I have the same problem.. happened after leaving it uncharged for more then a year. I think its a software problem.
someone know how to do hard reset/reboot?
Sorry, after Casio's customer no-service would not give me an estimate or even acknowledge that this is a known problem (as you can see, many others have had this problem), why would you want to send it to them and pay them more money to fix a problem with their product? Well, I didn't and got my camera fixed cheaper. I eneded up sending my ex-z850 to Tim at casiorepairs.com. Tim sent an estimate upfront and was very timely in responding and then fixing my camera and sending it back. It cost around $60-70 and I have my camera back again. I won't be buying another Casio due to their lack of product support, but I'm glad to have my camera back for a reasonable repair fee!
I suppose I should offer my comment as a solution?
I too have the exact same problem, with a EX-Z850, and an online search
turns up others with similar Casio Exilim models, with the same
problem. It involves a malfunctioning Disp, Zoom, and non-functioning
Set button, with all other functions working OK. Casio Support seems to
recognize the problem, and indicates it has to be fixed at one of their
authorized repair centers. Start with their online system: https://www.ecasiorepair.com/

I have the same problem.
I have tried resetting and formatting the card with no luck.
will it be fixed by Casio if the one year Warranty is over?
Same problem. My warranty had just expired two weeks prior. Before I threw out the camera out, I disassembled it and noticed a small plastic gear that operated the zoom was damaged.
I have the same problem with an EX-Z750.
EX-Z850 - Same problem, zoom and set quit working. Camera is out of warranty. I'd love to know if anyone finds a good fix for this.
