Why is my new computer suddenly slowing down, and my mouse doesnt respond very well. Im suddenly having trouble watching movies on Netflix. I bought it brand new just months ago.

Do you have anti-virus software installed? If not, you may be infected, and your system is being used by the virus to send out spam e-mails.

How to speed up your computer using a disk defragmenter

Computers slow down after a while. Most of the time they can be revived by following some simple maintenance procedures.

One of the biggest culprits to a slow computer is a fragmented file system. As files are written and overwritten constantly, parts of files get written to different parts of your hard drive. In order for the computer to read these file, it has to jump all over the hard drive which slows your computer down. In order to fix this, it is recommended that you maintain at least a minimum of 10% free space on your hard drives. Then at least once per month, run a disk defragmenting program such as the built-in one that comes with Windows, or a 3rd party program such as Jeroen Kessel's MyDefrag.

Download the latest version from the Downloads page (currently v4.3.1), run the install program and leave the default components checked, but make sure to check the box for the Screensaver program under Additional Tasks if you want your computer to defragment your harddrive while your computer is on and idle (when you are not using it). This is my favorite option and saves you from running a full defragment every month. If you select this option, the screen saver selection dialog opens up and you need to select the Defrag screensaver and click OK.

If you do not use the screensaver option, Run MyDefrag from your Start/Programs menu. Select the option for System Disk Monthly then click drive C and click Run. You can continue to do other tasks while it is running.

Slow computer

Improper computer maintenance may result in slow PC. To fix computer running slow you are required to clean junk and windows errors from your PC using a System Utilities program.
To download a reliable System Utilities, go to famous website download.cnet and search there Reginout. Which I personally use and recommend the friends.
After downloading run all of its tools one by one except Internet Optimizer, to clean all the junk and error files from your computer.

Computer slow

There are lots of little things that slow down a computer, mostly it is programs that are running, but day to day clutter can slow your computer down too.
A good thing to try is to download a good program like Ccleaner or Reginout. I personally Use Reginout because i don't believe on free products.
It will analyze your computer, and clean up all that it can safely clean, inducing your registry.
It works well, and is 100% reliable.

click startcontrol panel administrive tools, computer management ,disk management right click on your drive select properties click tools you should see click check now click start two boxes automatically fix files and scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors place then a tick in both boxes then select check now, start should schedule this task when restart
do not do anything while the chkdsk utility is in progress any input will damage your computer

Compaq Presario V2000 PC Notebook: computer is slow...

try the following

1. click on start -> then choose run -> in the run window type temp and hit enter. A new window would come up. Select everything on the window and delete it.

2. click on start -> then choose run -> in the run window type %temp% and hit enter. A new window would come up. Select everything on the window and delete it.

3. click on start -> then choose run -> in the run window type prefetch and hit enter. A new window would come up. Select everything on the window and delete it.

4. You can also Uninstall apps that you don't use anymore. This can be done by going into the control panel and select Add/Remove Prorams. Scroll through and delete apps you no longer use. 5. Restart the machine.

I am sure that this would resolve the issue. In case it does not try this

click on start -> then choose run -> in the run window type prefetch and hit enter. A new window would come up. Select the tab Startup, and click the button Disable all. Click apply and then OK and restart your coputer.

This should help. in case not click start -> Accessiories -> system tools -> Disk Defagment

In case that also does not works, scan your computer for some viruses.
You may also look at the option of increasing the RAM / Memory on your computer
This should help

Computer lags when playing games

You really need more Ram. But if that's not an option, then open "Activity Monitor" under Utilities folder in Apps folder. Go to User Processes, and you can see exactly what's taking up your Ram and slowing your game. Quit each process and hope for the best. Don't fool with the System Processes section; you might quit a process that is essential to running your computer.

Hi my computer runs real slow ive use mcafee to try to clean it but it seems to be still running slow

Hi,
Click Start-> Run, type msconfig and click Ok. The System Configuration Utility will start. Now click on Startup tab. You will see a list of programs which starts automatically when Windows starts.
In that list, uncheck the program items, which you generally don't use. It will make your computer a little faster.
The above procedure can also be modified a little, that is uncheck all items under Startup tab, restart your computer.
Now check one item at a time, restart computer and test the speed of your computer. This way, you will find the programs, which are making the computer show. Remember to use a pen and paper to take a note about which items you are selecting or unselecting.

Please try one more thing:

Open Start-> Settings-> Control Panel-> System. Click on Advanced tab. Under Performance, click on Settings, click on Adjust for best performance, click Apply and Ok.

Then do this Click->Start->Programes->Accessories->System Tools->Disk Clean Up and select the C:Drive and clean it

Thanks
