U have cables or satallites tvs services hook up.U can record VHS tapes and used any DVD/VCR recorder machines hook up.Because the pay services does convert the signal back to analoge tv signal so u can record VHS tapes.
when you hooked this up did you hook to the t.v directly? the dish receiver directly? or do you have surround sound system and hook through it. If you have a menu button on your tv then hit it, scroll to channel listings, once there you will be prompted to start selecting channels scroll down the channels to where it says video then select, that might work or least it does for me anyways. what type of tv do you have that could help me also. good luck let me know if i can help in any way
I just had the same problem, and I am using rca blue, red and green cables for video. I unplugged them and plugged them back in again a couple times and it finally worked. I have had this problem before with another dvd player, don't know why. Hope this helps.
It is likely that you don't have the right input to the television. First get a source that you know works. How about a DVD player. Get the cables from your DVD player (should be yellow RCA or "Phono" plug for the composite video out put.) Connect only the yellow video out put to your t.v. input and then press the av input button until you see the picture (note: besure that the DVD player is turned on and you have a dvd in it. We sometimes miss the very basics).
Once you get the picture than connect the audio cables, should be red and white to the corresponding colors. Do you have audio now?
If this test worked fine, it is likely that the solution to your other problem is that you have it on the wrong av input and need to press that button a few more times to find your satallite or cable input. There is a possibility that you are trying to use the tuner in your T.V. and it may be again as simple as choosing antenna input and that too needs to be hooked up to a good source.
