My PSP froze whilst i was enjoying a game of Star Wars Battlefront, so i restarted it like i usually do whenever my PSP freezes.After i restarted it, i found that my PSP could not play games .i've tried 7 PSP games on 2 different PSPs, they could play it! Then i noticed that there was a sound like gears moving around.It would start, go on for like a second then stop,the sound would just repeat and repeat and repeat. I then opened the PSP's UMD slot and moved the laser all the way to the left seeing as all the other lasers were all the way to the left in the other PSPs that could work. Still no luck. Please help me, My PSP is a PSP-1000 the first generation Software ver 3.71 M33-3
I have the same exact problem, everything works except the disk reader. the laser keeps moving to the right and bumping into the spinner. Dustoff didn't work, it doesn't seem to be jammed at all, and the laser won't turn on. My guess is that the PSP is fine, but the laser needs replacement.
Update your PSP's firmware to 5.00 -thats my psp firmware

I meant that I couldn't play any UMD Games which would also mean i cant play any ISO based games. I think this is a hardware problem not a software problem for if it were a sofware problem, i would not be able to play any UMD based game.
