Question about Dell 1700n Laser Printer

1 Answer

Toner Notice Each time I print a notice comes up and tells me the amount of toner I have left and a choice to order supplies. I have to X it off but it slows down the operation of the printer and is very annoying. Any way to turn it off? Thanks. M HuguesMaurice River Township School District

Remove the toner cartridge and firmly shake it from side-to-side and front-to-back several to use the
remaining toner, and then reinsert it and continue printing. Repeat this procedure multiple times until
the print remains faded. When the print remains faded, replace the toner cartridge

Tip

Laser printer has dark cast to entire page, prints ok.

You notice that the copies you print have a dark shadow across the entire page but otherwise seems to print fine.

You have a problem with the toner cartridge.

Toner copier/printers print by transfering toner to a drum using electrostatic electricity and depositing it on the paper. Once on the paper it is set using a heating element or fuser.

Over time the brush which contains the toner in the cartridge and the scraper which scrapes off any excess toner, or toner which is left on the drum, wears and allows extra toner to remain on the drum, which gives the dark shading I mentioned.

To compound the problem these days the cartridges are recycled and obviously at some point the scraper will wear out and you may be the unlucky person who purchased the unit. If that is the case I suggest returning the unit to the store of purchase and exchanging it or getting your money back. Most reputable stores do not have a problem doing this.

New cartridges would run out of toner prior to this problem developing. They have been designed to last slightly longer than the amount of toner which is in them. When recycled and refilled the problems start.

Recycled and refilled cartridges are not always marked as such so there is no way to tell if yours is a recycled unit.

Another problem these days is the drums are being made out of plastic instead of metal. They wear faster and die sooner and cannot be recycled successfully as often. Once they have a scratch they will never print a nice copy again.

If yours is plastic that is probably the problem. No matter which problem you have, worn scraper or plastic worn out toner cartridge, the solution is the same.

You need to purchase and install a new toner cartridge.

Thanks for using FixYa and for the great rating.

How do i toner low error remove

Dear Ateeq
the printer has unique CRUM ID chips attached to drum unit and toner unit. These are operate on RF power.

The toner empty can removed when you install a genuine toner cart. and its capacity is 20000 pages. but still you can print 10% of its capacity,i.e. 2000 pages from the time of first notice of toner low.

Thanks.

Toner exhausted

Time to buy one or more new toners. Software supplied with the printer will usually tell you which toner colour needs replacing and also a part number to aid ordering the right one, as for changing it. Check the printers manual or the manufacturers web ste fir detsils.

What you mean by 'toner low' in cannon MF4320-4350 ??

Hi,
Toner Low message appears on the printer display screen when the toner cartridge is exhausted and there is no more toner powder left in the cartridge. At this point, you need to replace the toner cartridge in order to print. It is recommended that you buy an original toner cartridge to replace it because original cartridge will give you better results

Hope it helps! Good Luck! Thanks for using Fixya!

check this link,
either fuser or print drum. to verify , start print job, open door before finnished and see if marks appear before or after fuser. Before paper gets to fuser toner ink will smudge.

Oki C3200n Says Order K Toner after install

Two possible problems:
1. You actually got a partially empty new toner. This has happened to me once.
2. The sensor on the printer is dirty and not seeing the toner. With the toner there is a little wipe that says it is for cleaning the LED. There is an LED sensor that "reads" the presence of the toner. If this is dirty it will think there is no toner cartridge.
