Unable to unlock new maps

I have a garmin nuvi 200. i have recently dowloaded maps of Australia, now my when i switch on my garmin says "can't unlock maps." I previously had maps of South Africa on my Garmin. Please give me a solution.

Where did you download the Australian maps from? If from Garmin, contact Garmin for the unlock code. Maps have to be unlocked to a specific unit.

If you downloaded the maps from the internet, you will still need to contact Garmin for an unlock code.

I bought this devise in USA last year where it worked very well.I fished it out the other day but it doesn't work here why?

When you mean does not work, does the unit power up or is it plain dead? If it does not turn on, then you will need to troubleshoot or send out for repair.

If it turns on, but does not provide you with maps, you need to load maps for Australia as you currently have US maps loaded on the device.

Google search for Australia maps for your unit, or contact Garmin customer service.

Garmin Nuvi 200 Maps Disappeared

Hope this helps!

I wanted to add maps to my 250W. I found the maps I wanted on a Torrent. However, many searches around various forums never revealed how to install these. Found the following through reading and experimentation.

1. Downoaded map image file GMAPSUPP.IMG. Download also gave me "Use code XXX when generating unlock code for maps"
2. Downloaded Garmin Unlock Generator 1.3 by JetMouse
3. Looked on my GPS to find the UnitID
4. Entered the UnitID into Garmin Unlock Generator. Ignore the GM XT device unlock code and the top Generate button.
5. Selected Map Product as Custom and entered the code given for the downloaded image file.
6. Hit the bottom create button to generate a 25 digit code.
7. Download Img2Gps and run
8. Click Load Folder to load the image file. Select the tick next to it.
9. Check the Use Unlock Key option and paste the 25 digit code in.
10. Load a blank SD card into your Garmin
11. Connect the Garmin to your PC using a USB cable. You should see two dirves in windows: one is the Garmin and the other is the "Removable Disk" SD card.
12. Create a folder called "Garmin" on the SD card
13. Select Folder/Card in Img2GPS
14. Click "Copy Maps". Select the folder /Garmin on the SD card. You may need to click copy again.
15. Upload will take a while.
16. You should now see a file GMAPSUPP.IMG on the SD card in the /Garmin directory.
17. Create a new text file called GMAPSUPP.UNL in the same directory (make sure it does not have a hidden .txt extension).
18 copy the 25 digit unlock key into this file.
19. Close the file.
20. Disconnect the Garmin.
21. On Startup it should load your original maps and the new ones.

Have usa garmin nuvi 260 ,want to load austalia maps how?

well you need to update the firmware of your gps also call garmin customer support they are great tell them about the map, also the poor satelite cover might be because of your location or weather conditions

GARMIN NUVI 200 SAYS NO DETAILED MAPS FOUND THAT SUPPORT ROUTING

This error is caused by a corrupt or missing map unlock code. Please email me @ [email protected] and I will talk you through on how to fix the problem.

Loading Australian Maps on Nuvi 200

She can purchase the City Navigator Australia DVD and load the Australian maps onto an SD card. Insert this into the unit and she'll then have both S Africa and Australia maps.

Unable to unlock maps for garmin nuvi 200 I am having trouble getting new stuff on my Garmin Nuvi 200. I registered it thinking it would let me download mapsource and it didnt. So then I got a pirated...

Here's a thought: instead of trying to install pirated maps which don't/won't work on your unit, how about actually buying the maps which are guaranteed to work. You will get a free copy of Mapsource on the disk with the maps of Europe.

Unable to unlock maps for garmin nuvi 200

Soution:

1. Use Mapsource to find the unlock code for NT v8 (from Utilities->Unlock Maps...).
2. Using Notepad, edit gmapprom.unl file on the unit (under Garmin folder) to replace invalid code with the correct 25 character unlock code (no spaces or dashes) and hit Enter key and save.
3. Reboot.
