i bought this camera two weeks ago and three mini dvds of the same brand. the first i was able to record and finalise and i copied it on another disk through the computer. the other two i was able to record on them but i cannot finalise them. finalisation starts but it stops after about 20 seconds and it says disk error... the disks are fine i can record on them and can play them back on the camcorder, but they wont finalise. why is this happening and why is the first disk ok and the other two are not... the recording is in LP , video mode.

has anyone experienced a similar problem, please help me as i want to copy the disks and send them to my relatives abroad

I am having the exact same problem My camcorder is only 8 months old. I have treid everything. I have also experienced a message while recording that says"write error press ok to recover disc" and nothing happens, it just stops recording. If youturn it off and restart you get about 2 minutes of recording and the same message, I thought it was the tape but I am beginning to suspect this camera is a lemon. These seem to be the 2 most common complaints. I am going to call the Samsung customer support and see what they say. It has got to be the camera, what are the odds that we would all have "bad discs"?

I bought a Tevion TEV605 vcr/dvd recorder second hand, without remote. Solely for the purpose of copying our old VHS to Dvd. The recording process works fine and will playback in the machine but the dvds...

You can finalise any disk on a computer as this will close out the session and make it playable. If you software wont directly let you directly finalise it, then copy the files to the computer and then burn them as a video disk. Nero will do this.

Editing a DVD-R

I guess you read this on page 5 of the user manual.

DVDs initialised in VIDEO mode cannot be edited on the camcorder . However, they can be played on most DVD players and can be edited on a PC, but they must be finalised on the camcorder first.

Once finalised, there is no problem in downloading to a computer, but as the Canon DC210 does not have a USB connection the 'download' consists of taking the finalised DVD from the camcorder to the PC and working with it on the PC.

To finalise make sure you have the camcorder connected to the mains through the power adapter and the mains switched on before you start. Then switch on the camcorder and follow the instructions on page 61 of the user manual.

There is no need to transfer the DVD to a DVD-RW format to edit it.

Take your finalised DVD and place it in your PC DVD drive - you can use the operating system functions to transfer the DVD contents to a folder on the PC.

You'll need some commercially available software to edit the files you've transferred - a couple of suggestions are Magix, Adobe - there are many programs available.

Don't forget to rate this solution once you've tried it !

And good luck with the school project.

How to copy from CANON DC210 DVD Camcorder to PC

Before you can transfer pictures or video from your Canon DC210 to your PC you need to finalise the disc in the camcorder.

You also need to make sure that the DVD drive on your PC is capable of reading a DVD-R, DVD-R DL or DVD-RW format as these are the only disk formats that the DC210 will handle. Not all PC DVD drives can read these formats.

To finalise the disk you must have the power adapter connected to the camera, plugged into a wall socket and turned on. Then, switch on the camera, put it into playback mode, Press 'Func.', select main menu, select 'disk operations', select 'finalise'. Don't move or shake the camera or switch it off whilst the finalising step is underway - this could cause problems.

Once finalising is complete, put the disk into the PC.

Good Luck.

Cant transfer footage from Canon DC201 onto computer (and eventually internet) Do I need specialist software to take video from DVD to computer?

You don't need specialist software to take video from DVD to computer.

One of two things has gone wrong
1. Your PC cannot read the -R DVD format, or, more likely
2. You have not finalised the disk.

You must finalise the disk in the camcorder before putting it in the PC. To finalise the disk you must have the power adapter connected to the camera, plugged into a wall socket and turned on. Then go to the main menu, select 'disk operations' and you'll see an option to finalise disk. Don't move or shake the camera whilst the finalising step is underway.

Once finalising is complete, put the disk into the PC.

Mini DvD-RW problem

You've recorded your video and you're ready to view it on a PC.

Now you need to finalise the disk before you can see it on the PC, otherwise the PC will not be able to read it.

To finalise the disk, connect your camera to the power adapter, plug the adapter into a wall socket, and switch on the wall socket, then switch on the camera.

To get to the finalise step. switch on the camera, press FUNC (on the top left side of the camera), move the joystick down to get to MENU, press SET on the joystick, move the joystick down to get to DISC OPERATIONS, then select FINALIZE, using the SET on the joystick. Finalising will now start.

Make sure you do not move the camcorder or switch off the wall adapter during finalisation - this could cause problems.
