The reason for banding on the long panels (especially with solid coverage) is the high content of dissolved air in the ink. Dissolved air causes a gradual nozzle drop-out that cannot be stopped unless you do the head cleaning in the middle of the print. Unfortunately you cannot force HP9000 to do the automatic head cleaning in the middle, it can do it only at the end. Manual head cleaning is possible but it takes such a long time that it shows as stripe on a print, and the productivity suffers. Even the OEM HP ink is full of air inside. Our company did a lot of research in this area and we came up with a special ink packaging technique that ensures the ink is 100% free of air. Generally that's the limit. But to feed a piece that thick, you'd have to have a sharp blade, well adjusted guides and a pretty slow feed rate, depending on the species of wood. I'm guessing the saw will bog down and refuse to cut long before you reach that thickness, unless you have the patience of a saint and don't mind standing there feeding the board through a cm at a time.
Well- tuned it will definitely cut better, but these little portable saws are generally underpowered in my experience..and work best for 3/4" or less thick boards.

First I would suggest performing any head alignment functions with your printer's menu to be sure you have the stepper motor feed adjusted properly. Use the paper you are currently printing on for this procedure so that the thickness of that paper is factored in. If you stil see the banding after doing this, you can use the Advanced Media Control button under Printer Settings in ColorBurst to fine-tune the paper feed adjustment. Print out the "Media Advance.tif" target (located in the ColorBurst/images & Targets folder) to use as a guide. For white bands, you'll need to enter a negative number (to shorten the paper feed).
Horsepower is the maximum power produced by the motor. Saws with high horsepower ratings are good for pattern cutting and cutting down thick stock. Higher horsepower also allows the saw to cut through thick stock without bogging down or burning the wood.
You can try to clean the scanner light, but the light does not cast a straight one directional beam. It is more like a flood light, if one spot is blocked it will still cast light on that spot of the paper. Try checking the print cartridge. Normally if it is an inkjet copier, it will leave a line in one spot if there is a defect in the cartridge or if it is running low on ink. I woul try another cartridge first, then we can go from there.
