I have a whirlpool refrig model # ED5VHEVB06. The door where the ice comes out has a flap that does not close completely and a small black plug dropped onto the floor. Now the ice gets jammed and do

The door where the ice comes out is defective in that a small rubber plug dropped out of the door and then the ice would jam when you pushed the lever that dispenses ice. Now the flap that should close for the ice whole stays open and frost is building up on the inside of the door on the ice tray. Can that piece be reinstalled and does that panel come off from the front so I can see where it goes? Please advise. Thanks

Sorry , but to properly fix the problem you need to disassemble the door frame from the inside panel, if you are capable you may do but better to have trained technician to do it

SOURCE: Ice Dispenser flap is dangling

You need a ice door kit. It's either part # 8201756 or 8201758. I'm not sure which part number it is but you can go to ddapplianceparts.com and go to the left hand side of the screen and type in the 1st part number and if it says it's a ice door kit, then that's the part you need. We replace a lot of these.

Bottom of ice dispencer freezes and wont let ice come out. It is a whirlpool side by side

Check the door flap on the freezer door , which opens to let the ice come thru . If this flap does not close completely , then it will let frost accumulate inside the ice bin , blocking ice from dispensing . If you had given the model number , I would give the part number for the door kit .

Whirlpool side by side with ice maker dispenser not working

Hello, we are sorry to hear that you are experiencing this problem. We would suggest checking the ice chute to make sure that there is no ice lodged in the way of the flap. If the issue persist we would suggest having a certified technician out to look at the Refrigerator. If you would like further assistance you can send your name, phone number, address, model/serial of the appliance and the date on which you purchased the Refrigerator to [email protected]. Thank you.

Our GE Profile Arctica will not make ice cubes.

You have 2 problems .
1 . the water valve is not letting enough water in . Pt # WR57X10032 . This is located on the back of the refrig , where the wall water line connects to , on the refrig .
2 . The dispensor flap door , is not closing completely , to seal off the warm outside air , thereby , causing frost on the inside dispensor area , and , on the bottom of the ice dispensor bucket . The usual cause , is the door flap solenoid , pt # WR62X10055 . The plunger , which comes with the solenoid , usually rusts , causing the flap not to close completely .

Whirlpool icemaker microswitch location

If the icemaker is still in the refrig ,(easily removed with 1 screw ) pour about 2/3 cup of water into it . Also check the black fill hose which is above the icemaker fill cup , to see if it is frozen closed . If the icemaker dumps the cubes , and doesn't refill with water , replace the water inlet valve behind the refrig . If it doesnt dump the ice , replace the icemaker . My parts site is down , or I would give you part numbers for the water inlet valve and the complete icemaker .

The laser light should flash 2 times , pause , flash 2 times etc , if working correctly . If the laser light is not on , then the icemaker is in the harvest mode . If it stays off , icemaker is bad . If you close the flap on the left side of the freezer , the light should go off , until you release the flap . If these factors are ok , then the optics are ok .

Frost builds up in dispenser area .hard to open because of frost buildup.

The ice dispensor flap is not closing completely , causing the frost in the inside shoot and on the bottom of the dispensor . Sometimes caused by a broken ice guide ( clear piece attached to the arm that activates the dispensor on the door ) it hits against the flap , not letting it close . Model number would have helped more .

Ice maker works, fills door but doesn't come out

You have a bad dispensor flap solenoid . Frost due to flap not closing completely and ice will catch in the shoot .

Refrig Ice is freezing up on the door dispenser

Most likely the defrost timer or Adaptive defrost. Yours has the defrost timer. I want you to open the fresh food compartment and find a small opening through the control panel. The opening may have a plastic plug covering the hole to hid it. Remove plug and turn timer clockwise slowly until the compressor stops running. The compressor should remain off for about 25 minutes. If it does not turn itself back on then turn the timer slowly again to the right/clockwise until it does. If you need to restart the compressor. this way the timer will need replaced.Defrost timer is part number 482493 Keep me informed on your progress, Sea Breeze
