I have two Daiken mini splits on the same level 20 feet apart. one is 12 btu the other 15, the 15 seems to work flawlessly with heat coming out constantly and fast, the other stops putting out heat; constantly stopping then coming on for a short time then stopping again. If the two were not so close to one another I probably would just think that the unit is stopping to build up heat. Can this be simply due to the smaller unit working harder? When it does come on it the air is not as warm as the other.I've installed the heaters in the pan so the ice doesn't build up. I've had the contractor in many times who keeps saying there are no error codes, so obviously nothing is wrong.
Try changing pipesensor or thermostat they are most likley to go on a aircon let me know if it worked it should cause i had the same problem with mine till i changed the pipesensor and thermostat

Testimonial: "Thank you for the info. Since they are still under warranty I'm waiting for the repair guy to come. I'll get him to check these things, seeing as he has come twice before and un able to fix anything.I'll post again when he eventually comes down.I bought three from him and since i've had many problems he doesn't really want to talk to me anymore. I guess i should not have paid cash! Thanks again"

This can only be a gas problem.
the split units goes on on and off if a shortage of gas is involved, the chances that you would here it wont be that big for the fans would make too much noise.
get a repair man for a re gas and all is well.
Good luck.
Wouter.

i would check the blades on the condenser fan motor and make sure they are not hitting anything if they are not, spin the fan see if the fan spin freely, it should, if it doesn't it could be the bearing in the motor are dry and going bad

Hi Danny, not 100 percent sure this will help but I have come across other split and ducted units that shut down during heating. It could be associated with icing up on the external heat pump but it is not always readily evident. The problem with Daikin error codes is that often there are none evident or displayed which is a real problem in resolving problems.
What I would consider is the distance of the pipe work between both units for an under gas refrigerant issue. Most come pre charged for 30 metres but remember that's to and from the indoor unit as well. it could be an undercharging issue which can cause all sorts of problems with the system. I additionally had a problem with a 3 phase ducted system shutting down on over pressure sensor which was traced to a gas leak with R22 refrigerant. The error that was recorded by the system code pad was rubbish, just a side affect associated with the problem which we spent several hours tracing. The short of all of this is that error codes don't necessarily tell the story but rather a portion of the problem. Check refrigerant levels because if they are wrong either over pressurised or under the system will fail to work correctly as anticipated. Good luck with it!
