Do you have a code reader? If there is a message informing you that the transmission is in limp mode. You should be able to retrieve engine codes. From your symptoms I think that you either have an issue with fluid flow (clogged filter and/or screens), worn pump, low trani fluid level, trani fluid temp, possibly a correlation problem with the speed sensors, clogged air filter, dirty MAF sensor, clogged fuel filter, or blockage in the exhaust system. It will only be through diagnostics that these suggestions can be crossed out and narrowed down. Please let me know if that helps or if I can be of any more assistance, good luck.

I have a 2004 rx8 when you start it it runs great until it warms up & goes into limp mode. Turn it off & back on most of the time its fine for about a mile then back into limp mode. Please HELP

first option is to have the fault codes read
limp mode is activated by both the engine and transmission sensors
going to limp mode so quick could be an overheating problem , transmission vss/tcm problem or ECM fault
by reading the fault codes , you will get a better idea of the problem

Transmission problems van stuck in first gear

At minimum it is stuck in limp mode which is to protect the transmission due to a malfuntion but still allow the vehicle to move. You need to get it to a garage and have a scan tool connected to the 16 pin connector under the dash. The stored trouble codes received will give the correct path for troubleshooting because it could be a lot of things.

We were driving down the road at 55 and it just quit running. We had lights radio ect but it would not turn back over. What should I look for?

have vehicle scanned to find problem code. if no scanner, go to any auto parts store and they will scan for free. it could be a bad cam or crank sensor. have it scanned. if a bad crank sensor it will shut off when warm going down highway. it goes in to limp mode, and will not send the pcm the correct info.

1996 gmc jimmy won`t shift from 1st to 2nd

IF the abs dash light is on and if the speedometer is sluggish or not working at all, it is probably a bad speed sensor on the transmission. and easy fix under $40 for the part. Mine was stuck in second gear for a while then worked then it stuck in first gear and i had the CHECK ENGINE light on.

1990 chrysler lebaron goes into limp mode have to stop car restart and problems stop temporarily

The symptoms you describe, "limp mode", no check engine light, after a restart you get a temporary cure, and the year of your vehicle, tell me your catalytic converter is becoming clogged.

As your vehicle warms, the exhaust pressure builds and can't properly escape through the catalytic converter. When you turn the vehicle off, the pressure slowly releases, and when restarted it will run ok again until the pressure builds.

I would replace the catalytic converter, and that should resolve your issue.
