I have a 4 yrs old Nikon D80. It was working absolutely fine until the battery icon started blinking. I assumed the battery was empty and replaced it my second battery. It still shows empty battery. Thought maybe it was empty too so gave it a full charge. Yet it still shows empty battery. I bought a new battery charged it. Still No luck. Tried re-setting. Looks like its something real bad.
Are you using the same charger for all of the batteries? If so, you might want to try another charger. I had a charger for my batteries (I have a D7000) that turned out to be bad. It would show it charging and then having charged them, but they were still dead.
If that's not the case, check the contacts inside the camera, that they are clean and free of debris. Those little gold contacts needs to match up nice and solidly.
If it's still a no-go, call 1-800-NIKON US (1-800-645-6687) 9AM-8PM EST, Monday through Friday.

check corrosion on the battery contacts. Use a pancil eraser to clean them if you can get to them.

Greetings,
It is actually an error message generated by your compact flash and means that the card is no longer readable. A lot of D70 owners have reported this error without being able to find another solution other than reinserting the card or changing the card to a different brand. In my D70s I use Sandisk Extreme III memory and, knock on wood, have not yet had this error. You could also try cleaning out the memory card slot and check to see that all pins are aligned and not bent.
Good Luck,
-WN

SOURCE: On my Nikon d80:
The "fEE" error indicates that the camera is not communicating with the lens. The lens may not be attached to the camera properly, or if it has an aperture ring, it may not be set to f22 (or the highest aperture number of the lens) - which is normally marked in orange. Select this aperture and lock it using the aperture locking switch to prevent this from occuring again.

My IXUS 860 IS behaves the same. I found that if you start it in replay mode and then half press the shutter button it generally starts up OK.
