Ice maker not dispensing

Whirlpool ultraease 2 with the indoor ice/water dispenser. Awhile ago, the ice dispenser started to inconsistently not work. Sometimes, it seems like it was not detecting that I was pushing the cup arm in, which should start the ice dispensing. Subsequently, it did not work at all. Light indicators are working, and the water is coming out, but the ice does not seem to engage at all.. I don't hear any noise indicating that it's even trying to dispense ice. Anyone know what I should look at, and how to repair this? Thx.

The model number of your refrigerator. Ultraease 2 is only the filtration system on you fridge.

This is possibly only a defective micro-switch on the Dispenser Module. Can you post the model number so I can examine the correct parts?

Are you looking for the part number of the actual dispenser motor? This would require me to take apart the motor assembly correct?

Have you checked inside the ice bin, if the ice froze together it will not dispense. If this is the case, lightly chisel it apart until the motor is able to spin and dispense. Remove as much of the "blocks" of ice as you can before trying to dispense

yes. As mentioned, if it was frozen, i would still hear some sort of motor noise, but nothing. I also took out the ice bin, and still no sounds.

Scorpio, remove the ice bin itself, dump the ice and see if you can move the bin auger by hand by turning the actuator in the rear. If the bin is ok, with the door open and the door switch held in see if the auger motor is turning when pressing the ice lever. If it's not turning the next logical step is to see whether the auger motor is getting voltage when calling for ice. Make sure the door switch is closed. The part number for the auger motor on the posted model is wr60x0202. Hope this gets you going..Catriver.

SOURCE: Water Dispenser

GodofHops: The motor that you hear on the refrigerator is the water pump that carries the water to your dispenser. If no water is coming from the dispenser. You have to check 3 things: 1. If there's any water. 2. Water filter clogged. 3. Water line for dispenser clogged with minerales carried on water flow. SithPitt

Deb, sounds like your dispenser control board has given up the ghost. The boards come in 2 models, 4 button and 5 button. The 4 button part # is WR55X10443 (~$87.00)... the 5 button part # is WR55X10437 (~$97.00). Not too difficult to replace. UNPLUG YOUR FRIDGE!!! Remove the drip tray from the dispenser, and any screws hiding in there. Then, using a flat screwdriver and starting at the bottom of the fascia, pry the fascia away from the door and remove. Then remove the screws holding the control in place and disconnect any wiring. (Don't forget to pay close attention to WHERE the wires connect and HOW the wires are routed!) Then install the new board and rebuild. Approx. repair time for your first one is ~1 hour. Good luck!

SOURCE: Ice maker not working

The icemakers won't make ice if the temperature is not below a certain set point. Varies between manufacturers. Try making the temp colder.

Whirlpool ultraease refrigerator (ED7FHG) making water sounds, and drips water onto steel pan in bottom rear of freezer side. Purchased new. This is an obvious change. Problem?

You have a water leak somewhere (I'm assuming this water sound is constant). If not write me back for other possible solutions.

The only place water comes into the freezer is for an ice maker or a door water dispenser. Check around the ice maker for a leak. If there is a water dispenser in the door then check the piping to it also.

There is a drain in the bottom of the freezer compartment which is there so when the frost is melted by the defrost heaters, it has somewhere to go. This drain drains into the "drip pan" (or condensate pan) in the bottom of the unit. Here the water will sit until it is evaporated into the air.

If this helps you, please select YES to the first two ratings questions. Thank you, and Good Luck.

Could not locate your model number. However, Check fill tube for icemaker inside the freezer. Iced solid? replace water valve. No ice in fill tube? Get correct model number and resubmit your request.

ICE MAKER

Your ice maker works off a different side than the water dispenser. Most times the water control valve is the problem yet it has 2 sides one for water and the other for ice. You can check the ice maker by filling with tap water. Let it freeze and if it dumps the ice and tries to refill I would say the water control valve part number 4389177 will need to be replaced. Whirlpool ultraease warm on left side, dispenses warm water

not dangerous, i would recommend vacuuming coils under and behind refrig, make sure the fan behind the unit( cooling for compressor) is running full speed. the water is probably "warmer" then usual because the waterline runs across the bottom of the refrig, which appears to be overheating as it is. this should rectify your issue

Whirlpool icemaker not working

the refrigerator has a duel water valve, one for the ice-maker and one for the water dispenser. the valve that the ice-maker relies on may be bad, or it could be the ice-maker itself.
another thing that could cause it would be the temperatures in the freezer. the ice-maker will not call for water until it reaches under 15 degrees.

Kenmore Side by Side Refrigerator Model #106.50544001

It's time to replace the dual water inlet valve (the part the water line connects to). A bit of sediment or other fine object can get in the seat or the material itself can deteriorate and allow a tiny amount of water to pass up to the icemaker.
