Question about Intel Motherboard

1 Answer

Ram upgrade I reffered to a problem on oct 29 2007 what i did overlook was that I have two gigs of memory consisting of one gig in slot one and 1 gig of memory in slots two and three consisting of two 512 gigs of ram. However, it is showing one slot as being empty and only showing 1.5 gigs of memory in the other two. I am led to believe that it will only show 1.5 gigs of memory and the othe 512gig will latent/dormant and will show up at some later time. is this correct or is there another solution to this problem. thanks for the previous assistance

It's generally not a good idea to mix sizes as your more likely to get problems, but that said it probably should still work it's most likely your configuration consult your motherboard book as to what order you should install the memory you have.

Wont boot 2 windows xp home when 2 gig memory installed, works with 1 gig, tried both slots with both 1 gig sticks.Screen goes black.

Seems the memory is not comatable with the motherboard. Replace the old memory and visit http://www.crucial.com, they have a scanner tool which will confirm what mem can be installed.

Toshiba sattelite

The problem must be the amount of total memory. Maybe the board supports only 1 gig. Chek the manual.

4gigs ram

Switch sticks around in various combinations (2 gig in slot one, 1 gig in slot two, switch, try other stick, etc) and see if it is the memory or the motherboard.

Toshiba l45-7423 laptop has two memory slots. With 512 in each, runs ok. With 2 gig in top slot, 512 in bottom slot, runs ok. with 2 gig in bottom slot, says it has memory errors. this limits me to 2.5 gig...

HI embreelynn,

just want to check, did you left the top slot open when you put the 2gig in the bottom slot, if you do, I suggest you try it with the 512 in the top slot and the 2gig in the bottom, the reason is that some mobo implements "banking" which means that you'll have to fill in the 1 mem slot before the using 2nd, 3rd and so on.

hope this helps, regards.

Upgrading acer laptop RAM

Hi,
You Can Actually Upgrade This To 2 Gig Memory.
Each Slot Will Take 1 A Gig Strip.
I,d suggest Buying another 256 mb Strip, To Put Into Slot 2.
Or Buy a 512mb ( Half Gig ) Which Will Give you 750mb With your Existing Strip Already In There. ** Recommend 1 Gigabyte Max** 2 gig of Ram in This Baby Would Probably Start Glowing.
You Can Buy DDR/266/333 In 256/512/1 Gig Strips. These Are Commonly Known As SD-RAM-Modules.

2 gig ram stick

Absolutely, 2 Gigs stick of RAM exist. Unfortunately your motherboard's maximum memory supported is 2GB. This site specifies very clearly 1 gig stick max per slot:
