We bought this refurbished projector about 2-3 years ago. It has been well worth the money. Just the other day, we were 3/4 into a good movie, and suddenly the picture was gone and power button was flashing red. I'm thinking maybe it overheated, but it is in a well ventilated location. I tried again the next day after 24 hours of cool down, and it would play for about 2 minutes, and do the same thing. It also smelled like it was overheated instantly. Does this mean it is toast? I think a might have toasted the dvd we were playing, because we then tried to play it in our dvd player, and the picture would go out too. My original thought was that it was a bad dvd, but never heard of a dvd blowing two pieces of electronics like that.

While it is frozen on that "Searching" screen, hold the SRC button down on the actual projector for an extended time. Then after letting it up, hit it briefly one or two times until it finds a source. Make sure that under Projector Setup/Management/ "Auto Source Select" is checked. This brought my Cinego back from the dead.

Press the src button on the remote control. If that does not work, then press the src button on the actual projector. You may have to press it a couple of times. This allows you to manually search the source,(dvd, cable etc.) Instead of it doing it itself.

Hi Rcasso
There could be a whole number of things that is the cause.
The most popular of which would be replacing the lamp or Ballast ( lamp's powersupply )
Could you supply me with the LED status when the unit shuts down ?

dimmed or gone out!!! there is a setting for economy mode that will make it not as bright.

Well I was hunting for a replacement remote, came across this page, and know this fix for you all. Go into your setup menu, slide over to the management tab and make sure Auto Source Select is checked. If it is not, it does not search for a DVD but instead looks for only external inputs. Even pushing the manual source select button will not find the DVD if this entry is not checked.
