I bought myself an Action Replay a few months back and recently I came into this problem:
When I plug in the Action Replay to the computer and use the Quick
Update service it says "Failed to write a game to your action replay.
(Not enough free space) I've reinstalled the software, deleted all the games and reinstalled them (to no avail) and tried to upgrade the software. I spent twenty-five dollars on this thing and I'll be really upset if this thing can't be fixed.
I also had a past problem that might have led to this. While I was using the Quick Upgrade service in the program, my internet cut off for two seconds. All of the games that were already installed on the replay were corrupted I assume and the names were all shown as ASCII characters. The game screen on my DS Lite then became garbled with random bars of pink and green. I quickly turned off the ds lite and then tried to restart it. I put in my pokemon diamond game (however there were no cheats) and then was able to play for two minutes then the game froze. When I restarted the ds again the entire drive on my action replay was deleted. Should I enter the games in by hand in the Add New Game menu?

your version has everything to do with it. i recently found this out. all the dsi versions past 1.4 u doesn't allow the action replay to work basically. either we wait for a action replay update or we find a wait to get the dsi's version to 1.3 something. my fiancee's dsi was at 1.2 u and the action replay worked just fine. i had him update it to the newest version which is 1.4.5 u and it doesn't allow the action replay to work. i know i didn't really help but for the longest time i thought my action replay was broken and then i just found out that it's the dsi instead. sorry mate
There can be many problems with your Action Replay DS. Try taking the Action Replay out of your Nintendo DS Lite Console, and look at the part those goes into the DS. Make sure nothing is bent, or missing. If something is, it might mean you may have to have it repaired, or replaced. Also keep in mind that sometimes Action Replays can be sensetive, so don't move it around while playing, or it may cause your DS to freeze up.
If you just bought this Action Replay recently, it should have been supplied with a CD to insert into your computer. You should install Action Replay onto your computer. When you have been brought to the main Action Replay Code Manager, find your USB and Action Replay plug in. Plug the small end into the top of the Action Replay cartridge, and the USB into the computer. Now a New Hardware wizard should have popped up on your computer.
When prompt, select, "Install from specific location.", then click next. Then select Search from CD-ROM. Sometimes it may sound different, just select the one that says something about searching from a CD-ROM. After this has completed, reset your Action Replay.
If the problem persists, feel free to contact me, for questions, or replies.
Nate,
you can reconnect your ds+AR and you can put the codes back on there by clicking and draging one of codes list from codejunkies.com if you have your Action Replay Code Manager installed, which should come on a disc you bought with your AR
Heres your problem, I believe you just recently purchased this AR, the new version of action replay require a software update found on Datel's website, after downloading this software your Domain Suffix of your Optical Drive will automatically replace the program with the newer one. Open up your winsock processor and buffer the Native file of your AR back into your fluxus core before adding codes to your action replay, if this does not fix the problem, submit a complaint to the Datel Hacking Team located at PO box 45265 North Ridge, CA. This whole process should take anywhere from 10-12 weeks to fully resolve
Download the code manager if you don't have it. In subscriptions list add this: http://www.freewebs.com/marioforever89/Codes/Link.xml In the NixShadow part there are tons of codes for Pearl so just drag the word "NH's Pokemon Pearl" over when your DS is plugged in.
CD is in drive: Plug in the DS and turn it on (going to the update screen on the DS), this -might- prompt you about a new software that has been plugged in and ask you to install the drivers for the "NDSLink" With the CD in the drive, it will find the drivers for the NDSLink
Wire Wiped Clean: It isn't the wire that needs cleaning but it's the pins, if the Pins need cleaning use an alcohol solution (Damp, not soaking). Otherwise pinch the wire and run your fingers across it to straighten the wires within the cord without pulling (pull too hard and you'll rip the wires) Though do note that exposed wires are not a good thing. If you received your cord with exposed wires, return the Action Replay and its accessories promptly and get a new one.
DS is Open: Again, your DS needs to be on in order for the computer to recognize that it's plugged in. It's the Action Replay that the Code Manager on the computer talks to, not the DS. The Action Replay needs an electrical current going through it to tell the computer that it's turned on. DS on = Action Replay on.
Other possibilities that are not explained: Did you happen to drop the Action Replay? Damage from falls is completely possible and ruins the state of the Action Replay, causing it to come lose easily or not work properly. I have needed to replace my Action Replay due to these accidents before.
Where was this Action Replay bought? If you bought it from a exchange store, you might have gotten a DS that was damaged before you got it (It happens), so if it is not too late, return it, and get a new one (Depending on the price difference between new and used in your area, for me it was a $5 difference)
