Look at the feed dogs to see if they are rising above the needle plate at least 1 mm. If not rising lint may have felted between the feed dogs and the needle plate. It could also be the feed dogs have been lowered, or the height has slipped. If the feed dogs are above the needle plate turn the hand wheel and see if they are moving from the front of the machine to the back. If not it is a length adjustment. If this is normal the pressure on the fabric may be too low. Another problem may be the timing of the feed dogs. The feed dogs should rise above the needle plate when the needle leaves the fabric and descend when the needle comes down into the fabric. This requires an expert to fix.

Fabric does not move under pressure foot

Look for a lever under the plate that disengages the feed dogs for free form quilting. More detail would help. My wife is a quilter.

The machine won't stitch anything...

check the feed dogs in the needle plate area to see if there up,
if you can see them & touch them with your finger, I'm putting in a link
for a free manual, so you can see where the lever is to the feed dogs, just
incase they are not up. if they are up then they may need to be checked
to see why they aren't moving the fabric.

My BV 160 is giving me problems. The fabric will not move along as I sew. I hve ck'd the feed dogs, they're ok, rethreaded the needle, bobbin, cleaned the bobbin but still not sewing.

have you checked the presser foot to see if the presser foot is holding
the fabric against the feed dogs so they can move the fabric thru to
be sewn by the needle?

Fabric won't feed forward

Do the feed dogs move up and down? If they dont the plastic gear underenth has probably broken you can take this to a singer dealer and have them replace the plastic gear with a nylon one which would last longer than that did

Feed dogs are not coming up high enough to catch the fabric

The fault is with the height of the feed dogs it is an internal adjustment that you tech. should make. As a guide if you cant see the majority of the front teeth above the plate or feel them with your finger then they are to low and need to be raised. Also check that the pressure of the sewing foot is set in the right position on the left side of the machine.
