Whether you use your DVD drive to install software, make backups of your personal files or watch movies, having that drive onboard makes your computer more useful and more versatile.

While DVD drives function normally most of the time, sometimes a DVD will become stuck in the drive, and the tray will refuse to open.

Restart your computer and insert a DVD to test the unit.

To retrieve the CD safely, the safest way is to open the unit. A common problem is that a tiny belt from a motor that drives the eject deteriorates and slips so there isn't sufficient drive to move the mechanism. The unit is probably in a mode expecting to eject and has commanded the motor but it doesn't complete... Do as I say and open the unit to do the retrieval. Then get unit serviced.

have you tried using a software application to tell it to eject? if this also wont work and all else fails there i a small pin hole in the face of the unit someplace near the center of the deck. if you insert a needle or other stiff small wire into this hole and push gently it will release the cd tray and allow you to retrieve your cd or dvd and in alot of cases return the deck to opening when it should.

I had the same problem. You probably have to replace the rubber belts.

either it is the ribbon wire, the motor that ejects the tray or the belt that connect the tray and motor is the problem. In case the above three are fine, replace the drive as the sparking might kill your moterboard.

did ya sdo it self cuz if soo you probly forgot to hook up the ignition wire because cds will eject while car is off check for power at ignitiion wire the red one coming from deck harness and then get back to me

Some dual decks use a common drive belt. It may have become too slack (due to age) to drive mechanism. I am sure its time to change all belts in both decks. This will solve the problem
