The camera powers on and off but that is it. When the camera is on, I can not record or playback, as the LCD screen stays a solid dark blue/gray color with nothing on the screen (it is not picking up any images through the lens to feed to the screen). The lens screen now remains open constantly. How can I get the lens screen closed when it is powered off? And how can I get images (while recording or playback) to appear on the LCD screen? Thank you.
It is jamming, the only really fix is to have it repaired, that costs a lot and it is sometimes better to just replace the camera.

The image will not appear simultaneously on the LCD
monitor and the viewfinder. It will appear in the
viewfinder when the LCD monitor is in the lock position,
and it will appear on the LCD monitor when fully
extended.
