Dell D610 Power lights come and then go off

When I press the power button, lights come on for about 5 seconds and all goes dead...  Any ideas???  It's not the batery.  I have tried a known good batery.

Ok - milk was split over the keyboard - but after letting it dry the Inspiron 6400 worked again (mouse pad not). A few days later it just turned off and does not start anymore. Power light goes on for a few secs then goes off.

I have a Dell D600. I have exactly the same problem. I press the power switch, some power lights come on for about 5 seconds and the go off without ever starting the computer. I try periodically for an hour or so. Eventually the computer starts.

it probably means your motherboard is broken. If no fan or hard drive turning on, and the middle light is flashing, it is a code that the motherboard is broken.

I have the same problem, laptop turns on for 5 seconds then dies. However, if you let it be for more than 10 hrs, it boots, then suddely dies and back to 5 seconds again.

Check inside the laptop if your processor fan is working properly...sudden shutoff is usually cause when the censor in the board detects that the fan is not triggering to prevent overheating.

going to the nearest PC repair shop would be a good choice.

If your computer is running kind of sluggish, you can fix it with an easy clean up of your registry. Here's a link to a free scan that works well:
I've used this one and it sped up my computer by quite a bit. Hopefully this helps.

I am having the same issue with a Dell D610. Booted with the FN key pressed in tandem with the power button, a cycle started to run (all the lights blipped in sequence) and then I got a RAM TPM error. I'm in the bios now, will post more soon.

Try checking your ram. If your laptop has no ram the lights will blink and go off. So your ram could be bad.

Laptop wont even start to power up when power buttonis pressed the green power light comes on for about 4 to 5 seconds then goes off the same thing happens with battery or power packthe same thinh happens...

Problem may be a simle matter of the battery contacts needing to be adjusted so they make better contact for charging and use. Use a needle and ~GENTLY~ raise contact bars on either laptop or battery.

My Dell D620 will not turn on. Battery is charged and AC adapter is working. When the power button is pressed nothing happens (the power on light on the laptop does not light up). Does this sound like...

I would start with the miniboard that the power button is attached to. If this is part of the keyboard then that is what you need to try first. Replacement parts should be relatively inexpensive as this is a standard business laptop used everywhere. The D series was very may even be able to use parts from a D610 or a D630. I would start looking for parts on eBay and go from there...

Let me know if you need anything else!

My Dell D610 in boot screen appear : '' MANUFACTURING MODE: LEVEL '67''' ''PRESS FN + X TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO NORMAL ...

Unplug the system and remove the battery. Hold the power button for 30 seconds. Then try powering up -- if it won't, you've damaged the mainboard, and you'll need to replace it.

My Dell Laptop D610 wont turn on. It was on, I

Turn off laptop, Remove the battery and the power cable and press the power button for about 30 seconds.

Check for light on AC adapter.
Try with battery alone. Try with AC adapter alone.

Try with a different adapter of the same kind.

else the issue could be with the main board for which I would request you to contact the manufacturer.
