There are two colored levers on the left and right side of the tank, simply pull them outward and then lift the tank off of the machine.

-OR-

There is a handle on the top of the tank, lift that handle straight up unlocking the tank.

Best of Luck

Why is my Bissell quicksteamer dirty water not going into tank

What worked for me is - put some water into the dirty water tank before you run it. My experience was, if I ran the machine with an empty dirty water tank, it stayed empty and didn't pull in any dirty water. If I put a little water in it beforehand, it helped seal the suction and get the thing started. Hope this helps!

Why does red ball stop operation?

Hi there! The red float is there to let you know when your dirty water tank is full and needs to be emptied. If the float is popping up and the dirty water tank is empty or not full this is an indication that the dirty water tank filter is dirty and needs to be cleaned or replaced. Ensure the Dirt Devil is connected to a working power supply if it does not turn on or operate. Check the fuse or breaker and replace or reset as necessary.

  • 2 Empty the dirty water tank if there is little or no suction. Turn off the Dirt Devil and grab the top of the dirty water tank. Push on the latch to release the tank and pull the tank off the base. Remove the lid and empty the dirty water into a sink. Replace the cap and hook the front of the tank onto the machine base. Hook the nozzle on the base so that the nozzle is level with the cleaner base. Push the back of the dirty water tank down and into position.

  • 3 Check the dirty water tank and empty as necessary if there is water leaking from the cleaner. Open the latch on the top of the solution reservoir and pull the reservoir forward. Fill with Dirt Devil brand cleaner to the fill mark. Fill the rest of the reservoir with hot water and close the cap. Replace on the base unit.
  • 4 Make sure the solution reservoir is seated firmly in the base unit if there is no cleaning solution dispensing from the unit. Fill the solution tank with cleaner and water if the level is low.
  • 5 Examine the hose and nozzles for possible obstructions if the carpet cleaner does not seem to be operating correctly. Remove any blockages.

What setting do I need to have the machine on to **** up the excess water? I want to download the manual but can't seem to find a link to do so, how would I do that?

You should have the vacuum set to Wash/Rinse for all steps in cleaning. Press the trigger to release the cleaning solution and push the vacuum forward. With the trigger still pressed, bring the vacuum back towards you). Then release the trigger and again move the vacuum forward and then back. Repeat the "dry" strokes until the dirty water enters the dirty water tank. Watch the water going through the dirty water tank lid. Empty the dirty water tank if the suction fails or the tone changes. Do more dry strokes after cleaning the entire surface until you do not see more water entering the dirty water tank.

The manual is available from Hoover at the product site: http://hoover.com/products/details/f7411900/max-extract-dual-v-widepath-carpet-cleaner/ . The direct link is here: http://hoover.com/file/592/ .

    I hope this helps.

Just got spinscrub this afternoon and worked great until had to empty dirty water. Now there is no suction at all. Have tried to find clogs and nothing to be found. Am about to return the damn thing!!!

ok 3 things to check before re-boxing it up.

    1) make sure that the lid is on properly. it should go on with the 2 tabs at the front of the machine, then click into place at the back of the machine.

    2) when you emptied it, sometimes the dirt channel will fall out. This allows for the suction to go between the dirty tank and the clear channel for the water to be sucked back up.

    3) when you remove the dirty water tank again, look down inside the machine for a circular hole. there should be a rubber gasket on it to seal up the tank for your suction. If it has come loose or is missing, retrace your steps between the machine where it was last used and the sink or wherever you dumped out the dirty water.

    Good luck,

I have never used a shampooer before when I use it it says to empty out dirty water. I don't have any left. My tank is empty. Am I doing something wrong.

Suggest that you do the following.
Remove the TOP ("Clean water") tank. Fill it 1/2 full of water. Put the top on the clean water tank and place it back on the machine.

Release the machine handle and remove the cover of the "dirty" water tank. Inspect the back of the tank to be sure that the vacuum adapter in located in the rear of the dirty water tank. If not-that is your problem. If yes, restore the top to the dirty water tank.

    Power the machine on.
On a kitchen floor, power the machine on. Pull the trigger and hold it for about 30 seconds. You should see water gathering around the brushes. If not, that is a problem.

With water around the brushes, release and lower the handle and and move the machine over the water. It should vacuum the water into the dirty water tank.
    Is all of that happening?

Dirty water comes out when I stop scrubbing. Floors remain wet.

Try one thing... the filter cover must be clicked into place. I thought it just sat on top, but it has to be pushed into place.

    • Check to make sure that the lower dirty water lid is installed and secure and not cracked.
    • Check to make sure the front duct panel is installed on the dirty water tank (this will transition the water from the front nozzle into the tank)
    • Check the filter in the dirty tank lid, clean if necessary
    • Remove the lower tank and look at the motor cover, locate a round hole, you should see a black ring (gasket).
    • with the lower tank removed, turn the machine on to check suction at the round hole, if OK then your problem will be with one of the above reasons

    Emptying the powerbrush

    Gently
press the Quick Release tabs on the Clean/Solution Tank
and slide the tank off of the unit.
Grab the Dirty/Collection Tank and pull to remove.
While at the sink, remove the Tank Cap by turning
approximately 1/4 turn counterclockwise and lift
    out the cap.
Empty the tank. Rinse the Dirty/Collection tank with
    warm water.
Replace cap and turn approximately 1/4 turn clockwise,
    until snug.
Slide the Dirty/Collection Tank into the unit. Replace the
    Clean/Solution Tank.

The tabs on the side is what locks the tank on, if they won't release the tank, then you may have to take apart to get it off and replace the tank.
