As far as I know, the machine supports 4GB of ram, so you purchase the ram modules from a pc parts dealer and install them inside the machine, removing the existing ram, there are 2 slots, so you need 2, 2GB cards.
You do not require any drivers or bios update.
Windows will need to be upgraded to 64Bit version if you wish to use the full capacity. as normal windows is limited to 3-3.75GB
As I don't know what current Acer Aspire One model type you have, I can not advice upgrade for memory. As far as I know the AoA150, you'd have to open the entire laptop just to reach the memory and upgrade it. The AOA150 has a kind of build in RAM on the mainboard BUT has a additional slot where you can add additional memory.
The motherboard has 128 MB memory (soldered on board). However there is still empty slot for further upgrade. You can install another 128 MB PC100 SDRAM memory to get maximum of 256 MB.
You got two memory ports. One on the bottom of the unit. The second one is on top of your Notebook. To reach it you have to remove the keyboard. There are three small points on the top of the keyboard to unlock it. Under the keyboard you will find a metal protector with one screw which protects the second ram... By the way: The Bios only recognizes up to 2 of ram. System ProfileASUS G2P

This has to be checked with existing ram in your note book, The same type may be added to make it 512 MB or can be replaced with a new with Higher capacity. The speed should match with existing Ram Chip Module.
