Take a hair dryer and hold it on the water line where it goes into the back of the freezer if this does not fix it then you might have todefrost the freezer

My water reservoir on my auto ice maker is full but won't dispense water or ice - what is wrong?

If your ice maker isn't producing ice at all or is producing crescents or cubes that are smaller than usual, it's typically indicative of a clog somewhere along the supply line. Cause: A common cause for a clog is frozen water in the line. Fix: To repair a frozen line, slide the refrigerator and unplug it.

Ice maker is frozen

If ice is frozen in the cube trays and does not come out, this can be caused by an open tray heater element or a cam mechanism that is not working and not turning on the heat element. Replacement of parts is in order. But lots of places ripp you for parts so when you figure in the cost of the part and shipping it is often best to just go out and get a new ice maker for about 40 bucks on ebay.

The water line that connects to the back top of the fridge busted loose. It looks like there is an adhesive pad that keeps it in place. How do I fix it? Scott

Hi Scott and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly

The plastic line that connects to the ice maker rubber FILL tube is what came off. Check inside the freezer and squeeze the end of the rubber tube at the back of the ice maker. I would bet it is frozen with ice. (Hand held hiar dryer for quite a while to defrost the tube FYI and do NOT melt the plactic of the ice maker water funnel.) What causes the tube to freeze is the inlet water valve starts bypassing water when it is supposed to shut off. The result of this bypassed water is a frozen rubber tube and the plactic tube on the back of the refirgerator blows off or leaks. This inlet water valve is NOT repairable.

The Fix... Replace the inlet water valve and make sure the rubber ice maker fill tube is defrosted BEFORE re-inserting the plastic tube back into the rubber fill tube. It just pushes in and the adhesive pads for holding the plastic line in place are not critical even if they are lost. The rubber fill tube fitting will retain the plastic hose just fine as long as the ice maker end of the tube is not frozen from a leaking inlet water valve.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

Ice maker not making ice water dispenser works well

There are 2 solenoids, one controls the water dispenser the other controls the ice maker water supply. Follow the tubing down the back of the refrigerator to find the ice maker solenoid. If the line is frozen between the back of the refrigerator and the ice maker it won't make ice either. If the line is frozen you need to check to see if the solenoid is leaking, this allows a trickle of water to continously flow through the lina and freeze.

No water going to ice maker

Your inlet tube that goes to the icemaker may be frozen. To Check: Shut off water supply to Fridge, disconnect the water line that goes to the icemaker at top back. Use a flexible item to insert in the water line connection. I used a zip tie. If the flexible item won't all the through to the ice maker, the line is frozen. Thaw out the tube from inside the freezer with a hair dryer. Re-connect everything, you now have ice . . . Solution #2: You may have to replace your "Water Inlet Valve" located at bottom right rear of Fridge. Easy to do, just follow the color codes, be sure and shut off the water.

We have a side-by-side with water, ice cubes, and crused ice things on the door. We can get water at the door but there is not ice. The icemaker is working thru the cycle but there seems to be no water...

I would immediately check the ice maker area and look for a little tube (usually black and about an inch long). Once found, try to flex or bend it and if it's stiff, more than likely the line is frozen and ice is plugging up the line. Just take out your good old blowdryer and blow the area on high heat for a few minutes. Soon and hopefully, you should start to see some water slowly dripping out of the tube and eventually, the frozen ice core will slide out of the tube. Finally, wait a couple hours of so and see if you have any new ice.

Good luck!

We have a Maytag MSD2754ARA refrigerator and heard water leaking under it last night. We checked and it is coming from the line connected to the icemaker. The line inside is frozen solid. I have read that...

You'll need to first defrost/thaw the freezer and the water line in order to get water flowing again. This can take some time, so you might want to shut off the ice maker by lifting the ice maker bin arm, which will stop it from cycling/calling for more ice to be made.

You can try to thaw the line by using a household hair dryer, but unless you have only a small area of the water line frozen, it could take some time. That is why it is best to empty the fridge/freezer and keep the doors open and the unit off to allow for a complete defrosting of the unit. Have towels, sponges and buckets handy to get all the water.

It sounds like it could just be the frozen water line, but until you thaw it out, you can't really determine if that's all it is.

Ice maker not making ice

Water solenoid to ice maker not working. Check with ohm meter..should NOT read open
Water line to Ice maker frozen solid. Look at water inlet to ice maker....is ice present in line?
Evaporator coils frozen over with ice. Will cause water line to freeze and unit will slowly thaw.
Try unplugging the unit for several hours and see if it starts to cool normally again. If it cools normally then check heater element and Defrost Thermostat.

Water line to ice maker frozen

Check to make sure that the damper between the freezer and fridge is not broken or frozen open. Make sure that you shut off the water supply to the fridge until you get this fixed because the line could crack and then you could flood the house.
