How do I replace the belt for this model

Make sure vacuum is not plugged in to power outlet. Lay it upside down and remove 4 screws from bottom plate covering brush roll. Remove bottom plate and pull the brush roll out. Clean hair and debris from brush roll and make sure it spins freely. Remove end caps from brush roll if possible and clean debris out. Install new belt around motor shaft then insert brush roll into belt and pull on brush roll to give you enough leverage to stretch belt far enough to put. Brush roll back into position. Reinstall bottom plate and screws. Make sure brush roll will turn before turning vacuum back on. Belt will lose elasticity and should be replaced twice a year.

Belt replace panasonic vac

Is it an upright? On mine it's very simple.
Unplug vacuum and lay it on floor so that you are looking at the rotating brush. Remove screws that attach the cowling. Remove the cowling. You will then see the rotating brush ends. One end will have the belt, or what's left of on the brush wheel. You will also see the motor shaft. The belt goes between the shaft and the brush wheel. Carefully remove the brush by holding both ends and pulling straight out. Place the new belt on the brush wheel and replace the brush. With the belt on the brush wheel, stretch it to fit on the motor shaft. Rotate the brush to make sure the belt is riding correctly at both ends. Replace cowling and screws.

Need to replace belt and cannot figure how to take it apart to get at the belt --- Took Screws off on the bottom but could not get to the belt

You have already removed the screws so lift the brush cover off. Then grasp rotating floor brush at both ends and lift. Clean strings, hair and other debris from rotating brush, paying close attention to the brush ends. Clean the debris from motor pulley and drive belt areas.Grasp old drive belt and remove from motor pulley. Place new drive belt over motor pulley and stretch other end over rotating floor brush in the space between the bristles. Place the ends of the rotating floor brush down into slots on the sides. Turn the rotating floor brush by hand several times in the direction of motor pulley. If installed properly, drive belt will center itself on rotating brush. Reposition brush cover and screw back into place. I hope that this helps you!

How do you change a belt on a dyson DC07

Turn vacuum over so you can see the brush.
Using a standard screwdriver, undo the three fasteners just behind the brush.
Remove the base plate.
Remove the belt.
Remove roller brush.
Place new belt on roller brush and center it in position.
Feed belt through the hole, and return brush to position.
Ensure the brush ends are located in the slots correctly.
Pull the belt over the motor shaft.
Rotate the brush a few times to ensure belt is centered and secure.
Replace the base plate, tighten fasteners, and rotate the brush a few more times to make sure it turns properly and the belt isn't caught.

Got Dirt Devil Featherlite, keeps burning the belt out immediately and there is only one way to put the belt on...have put on 4 new belts.....what up?

Hi There,

When a belt breaks immediately after installing it, this can ONLY mean one of two things. The first is that the belt was put back on incorrectly, and it may be pinched underneath of the beater bar. This would cause it to break immediately, but I seriously doubt after 4 belts that you put the belt on wrong all 4 times.

The second, and more probable cause is that your roller brush has gone bad. This could be why the belt broke in the first place. In order to test to make sure the brush is bad, unscrew the bottom plate, and remove the brush like you were changing the belt.

Hold the brush at the very end on both sides, using only your finger tips. While holding just the bearing caps, try spinning the bar with your thumbs. Does the brush spin freely in your hands? It should spin completely around 4-5 times on each spin. If the brush will not spin, or if you feel any resistance to it spinning, this is the reason why your belt continues to break.

If the brush can not spin, the motor shaft will continue to try and spin the belt, but since the brush doesn't spin, and the belt doesn't move, the motor shaft will just burn right through the back end of the belt.

If your machine is actually the model that's listed on this Fixya repair page, the Dirt Devil Featherlite model M085845, then your machine uses the following roller brush:
Dirt Devil Plastic Brush Roll for Model 085845 Part # 2-881020-000

The next time that change the belt, install the brush back into the machine, but this time pull up on the belt towards the brush to make sure that the belt spins freely, and spins the brush as well. If the belt doesn't spin the brush, there's some issue, and the belt will break as soon as you turn the machine on.

I hope this helped you. If you find out that you don't need a new brush, feel free to use the comment section here on the repair page and let me know, I'd be happy to walk you through some more advanced diagnosing. If you found this helpful, please be so kind and rate my repair and / or leave feedback for me.

Thanks so much,

Installing a belt

1. Unplug the vacuum
2. Take the bottom cover over the brush off by removing the 3 screws
3. Switch the brush roll control lever to bare floor
4. Take the roller brush out
5. Put the belt around the small pulley from the motor
6. As you are putting the roller brush back in put the belt around the space on the roller brush - center the belt on that space - THE BELT WILL NOT BE TIGHT BUT THAT'S NORMAL
7. Reinstall the bottom cover with the 3 screws

THE BELT DOES NOT GO AROUND THE SILVER PULLEY CONNECTED TO THE BRUSH ROLL CONTROL LEVER

Belt Stretched on my Hoover Windtunnel Farrington upright model U6431-900

hi, In order to to replace the V belt the one that turns the brush, One must take off the bigger belt " drive belt" that goes over that hugh wheel towards the back. When a belt gets stretched they will not turn the brush very well. If you have bought replacement belts the bigger belt Drive comes 2 in a package. Then you have your little V belt that helps turn your roller brush over. Yes the belts don't last long on my hoover. For kpatr22101 When you rpelace that V belt it goes over the roller brush into a little groove on the brush and then over a plastic round wheel then you must put on that bigger drive belt that must fit over that hugh wheel towards back and smaller on in front. Yes it is hard to get on. the I hope this helps. Cindy G.
