No pic, No sound, solid green power light

My Sharp Aquos LC42D62U just stopped working. Sound started to cut in and out on HDMI. Hooked up on a different box using video port (red, white, yellow), worked fine. Now a few weeks later, it turns on, but no pic or sound at all. I tried it on component and another video port but still no good. Blue/gray screen, no sound. It will display the cable info (channel, program, etc, but no video/pic). Is this something you think you can instruct me in, so I can send the board(s) to you for repair?

Try going into the setup menu and reset the channels..these must be searched and locked by the memory of the unit..

Toast. Sorry but I'll tell you what every electronics repair shop has been telling me for years. TVs, Flat screens, are designed to fail after only 4 years. Early 2000, American electronics manufacturers stated that they would not be able to continue to manufacture TVs unless sales picked up soon. Soon after the flat screens came out but no one was buying them because the older tube models were so durable.
Ergo, now that digital TV has come into popularity, sales have picked back up, but the TV has a limited life so as to ensure manufacturers stay in business. We live in a disposable world. I see this same issue play out every couple of months or so with customers. I recently sent a monitor in with the same problem. Cost me $40 in shipping to do so. They stated it would cost more to fix than to send me a new one. Then was told they were not equipped to fix it. That answer cost me another $40. Bought a new one for $100.
Best answer, Best buy Sharp - 42" Class (42" Diag.) - LED - 1080p - 120Hz - HDTV Sale: $379.99 is cheaper than finding out they won't even try. Next best answer. Sharp makes good stereos. Not so good TVs or DVD players.

SOURCE: Sound, but no picture

The hdmi inputs on this unit go directly thru the main digital pcb. and the component inputs feed thru the av pcb then to the main pcb. If the composit hook up do not work and hdmi inputs do work the unit has a bad AV pcb.

SOURCE: turn off closed caption on input(component) on Sharp Aquos 42"

I have a Sharp Aquos 46" and go a Comcast HD receiver as well, and had the same problem turning off the Closed Captioning. I order to turn it off you need to go into the box user setting by (starting w/ the cable box and tv on) pressing the power button for the cable box then the menu button for the cable box. This will open up the user settings menu. Just toggle CLOSED CAPTION to DISABLED.

SOURCE: Sharp Aquos LC42D62U with blank black screen, good

Unfortunately not really, it is the video board of the LCD that has failed, it is a major repair to say the least. You can check with a local repair shop to estimate the repair, but it will be spendy :(. I'm so sorry about the bad news there, but that's definitely what it is. If you happened to purchase the TV with a major credit card (not a debit card) there is a good chance it may still be under the free extended warranty most credit cards place on electronics. Please contact your credit card company to inquire if they do this, and they will be able to file the claim and get you a refund for the TV.
Thanks Tim

In most cases, the main board might have to be replaced. If so, a software [firmware] update too might be necessary.

Won't turn on, no pic, no sound. What's wrong?

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices.

If blinks continue without any pause, the main board is faulty.

Sharp Aquos 46" HDMI problem

I have a similar problem. The Sharp TV aquos appears to be shutting down my blue ray player and dvd recorder when connected via HDMI. They work fine and never close down when I connect them via the rca cables either single video connection or a composite 3 cable rca lead. I have 3 HDMI inputs on the tv and the problem occurs on all 3. Any suggestions?
