Yamaha RX-V800 - No audio on left and right channels

I have Yamaha RX-v800 receiver for the last 6 years. Yesterday, I noticed that no sound is coming out of main right and left channels. Because of this, I am getting audio only through center and rear channels only. All connections are OK. I will appriciate your help to solve this problem?

I also have a Yamaha RX-V2092 that has lost audio in the main left & right channels but all others seem to work ok. Does anyone know what the problem might be or found a fix for this?

I have the same problem with the V2500. I just realized that the only audio coming out of my 8 out of the 9 speakers i have hooked up to the receiver. All 9 had worked just the other day, and my father suspected he accidently hit the wrong button on the remote control. My front left is missing its audio. When I did the speaker test on the receiver it worked fine, I reconnectted everything directly from the DVD player to the receiver and nothing. Any suggestions?

How to I tell if my receiver is dead?

It sounds like it is dead, check the manual.

Be sure you have mains power to the receiver, it sounds like that failed. A loose plug or blown fuse could cause that type of problem as well. Here are a few links that may help.

Yamaha RX-V800 shuts down when any control button is pressed

What if you DON'T use the remote? Does it shut down when just using it?

If SO, you have a bigger problem.

If NOT, it sounds like the remote is hosed - sending a code to shut off.

Do you have another remote of any brand that you could set to do something simple, like change volume? Don't train it from the original, though, or it would do the same thing.

Rx-v800, have a problem when i swtich the input mode, it will turn off. after leave it for few months, now no problem but not sound.

Test an audio source like "DVD" connected to the "Direct" input with left, center, right, rear, andsub input. put the receiver in "Direct mode" if you get audio, the main DSP chip is bad, get an estimate first since it can only be verified by bench testing the unit. It's not a cheap repair 400-500 range. Most new Yamaha receiver's in the modest range run 500-800- new. Hope this helps

Config Problems After Repair

Sounds like they centre has configured your speakers to "none". You need to hook it up to a tV or monitor and go through the menu to "speaker settings" and make sure you select either "sml" or "lrg" for the speaker type. Also ensure on the LFE settings that you select either "swoofr" or "both."

Hi, You should try to see, on main board, the ground G2(TP00385), just to make sure if the screw is too tight. Its location on Schematic Diagram (Main) is E8. All the best, Rasgador
