Tecra M4-S435 Won't Boot

The hard drive spins up, the CPU fan spins but nothing appears on the screen. The LED lights stay on.

I replaced the CPU and it still will not boot.

I understand there is some kind of I/O device that frequently fails with this era of toshiba laptop? Is this something I can replace myself?

Else, where can I find a replacement motherboard?

Thanks,
Lee

The GPU graphics chip fails a lot in this model. It usually means a motherboard replacement. I've had it fixed 4 times at a cost of $600 each time at a authorized repair center but it reoccurs a year after. The GPU fan doesn't come on enough to cool the graphics chip so it fires or gets unseated.

I have a toshiba tecra m4-s435. i plug it in to try to use it and the charging light just blinks i got a 12311 error code off it but i cant find the code anywhere to help me with this problem. i asked...

Error codes are only of use by the Toshiba Technical staff and of no use to you as the consumer.

If you report that to the Toshiba Technical personnel, they can transcribe the error number for you.

If a blinking light comes on when charging, sometimes it indicates No Charge or the power cell inside the computer is not accepting a charge and will not function. You might replace the power battery if it has been in there for several years. They do tend to die after a while. As for the computer, it should operated without the battery. If it fails to boot when the power adapter is plugged in, then one of two issues are common. 1, the power adapter is faulty and needs replacement. 2. the computers CPU may be damaged by a power surge and that is bad news.

I installed windows xp on my toshiba tecra m4. How stylus pen works?

Toshiba Tecra M4-S435 is Tablet PC. Windows XP (Profession) has no option of touch screen.
In order to use the feature, you need to install Windows XP Tablet PC Edition or you may install Windows 7, which supports this feature and you would definately be able to use stylus and touch screen, as I have installed Windows 7 and its working fine with all the drivers etc.

Hope it helps! Good Luck!
