My sisters singers brand new Athena sewing machine she just started jusing about 5 or 6 times just stopped picking up the bobbin thread and sewing thread in the material. It is just leaving holes in

Needs a new needle right way around, most likely. And check the threading on both bobbin and top of the machine. It makes a big difference which way the bobbin turns in the bobbin case.

I am using my mother's Singer Futura 1000 machine - probably around 20 years old but has been little used until recently. The bobbin thread has started wrapping itself around the bobbin multiple

try changing the needle
check to make sure the top thread has not come off the thread take
up lever
it could also be a problem with the timing and the machine
would have to be checked by a technican

Singer 201K Hand Crank Sewing Machine - I have threaded machine correctly, but when stiching the threads are not interlintking i.e. stiches are not forming and thread from reel and bobbin remain loose. ...

Hi Wendy. No stitches like this is likely one of two things. The needle isn't fully inserted into the needle bar. Or it's out of time.

Luckily most singers of that era are similar. And there is lots of info on how to time them online.

Hello I own a lovely old singer sewing machine,

Hi Mary! These old Singers are such wonderful machines! I'm always glad to hear from someone who loves them and uses them--they will last practically forever with very little ever going wrong.

Sounds like your upper tension is a little loose. I like to use different color threads on top and in the bobbin, to make the stitches easier to see. Also, are you using size 12 needles and 50 wt thread when you're adjusting the tension? Sometimes having a larger (or smaller) needle and/or thread can throw the tension off just a bit. Also, make sure the pressure foot is up when you're threading the machine but down when you adjust the tension and that you only adjust the tension in tiny increments.

You may need to adjust the bobbin tension--but that very seldom needs to be adjusted.

It's also possible that there's a bit of thread or lint caught in the tension disks or in the bobbin area.

Please let me know if these suggestions work.

Happy Sewing!

Robbie

Thread bunchingup on bottom of material on singer

Hello,
Here are some solutions to try.

* Re-thread your machine
It may be threaded incorrectly.

* Raise your feed dogs If your machine has this feature.

* When you start to sew a seam, hold the upper and bobbin thread tails back and out of the way as you sew your first couple of stitches. This will keep them from getting caught in your machine.

I hope this helps.

Adjusting the bottom tension on a 1938 singer featherweight

If the bottom tension is too tight, the problem lies with your top thread. Lower your top thread tension and it should rectify your problem
