Are you sure it is a xD card and not an SDXC?

Then there should be a little arrow, pointing in the direction it should be going while inserting.
Try to eject the card and reinsert the card.
If you never used a xD card, and nobody else ever tried to put something in the slot, the card should go in smooth.
After placing the card, don't forget to format the card in the camera.

try turning it off and placing the needle where it needs to be and then turn it on to see if it will play.

You might just need to format the new cards in the camera to optimize them. Try that.

yes.you need to take of the software and reinstall the 420 software.make sure you install the software befor using the hard ware.best of luck.mark
