My camera is just 10 months old. I have not taken more than a dozen shots with it. It has been in a cupboard ever since. I think it must have been knocked while lying there. I think there is a faulty on/off switch on it .I was wondering if it can be fixed and how much it would cost about.
I do not have a receipt as I won the camera complete with printer in a Christmas raffle, so I do not know if the warranty still stands.
Wait a minute, 10 months old, isn't this still under warranty? Recommend contacting Canon first to see if they'll fix this for you for free under warranty. Also, your camera may be one of the recalled A530 cameras that are shorting out the batteries. Again Canon should fix this for free. Please see:

There is an internal battery that you cannot change. When it goes out, the camera fails. There are several places online that you can send it to for repair
Hi,

2 seconds—A picture is taken after a 2-second
delay (for a steady, auto-shutter release on a
tripod).
2 shot—The first picture is taken after a 10-second
delay. A second picture is taken 8 seconds later.
3. Compose the scene. Press the Shutter button halfway, then completely down.

Mine is over a year old. I typically need to charge it once a month if not in use and otherwise after about 800 shots without flash or 300 shots with flash.
This is a new problem, as we have had the camera for 6 months, but suddenly, we can see and hear the connection, but the other party can only hear us. However, when I push the snap shot button I see the picture taken and the camera has the "on" light to the left (facing the... Read more
Hi I had exactly that problem and in frustration left it in the cupboard for 2 months and then it worked again perfectly, but the same problem has reappeared, I have had a quote from Fuji in Singapore s$246 for new lens and it is only 2.2years old! Can sympathize and would think twice about buying another or even fixing it.
