Has a smelly rubber burning smell
Hi Pmob20,
Remove the brush and clean all the string or whatever may be trapped at the end edges of the brush. This is usually the case with Bissel vacs, that string or fiber gets trapped at the ends of the brush assembly.

There are two reasons for a smell from anything with a motor, the first the motor is under extreme load, see the vac has nothing jammed in it's intake, second the motor is not good and is taking extreme current, try letting motor spin with no belts attached, is there any smell after 5 minutes, if not motor O.K.
