Hi; I have recently replaced 2 STK's and 2 burn't transistors on this tv; wonderfully recommended by Mike NJ1964 [THANK YOU]
Got most of my colours straightened out but a few spots are still off.
Colour convergence cross lines up nice now.
Went into service mode grids. Some areas are off. Can get flashing squares to these areas but can not get lines to move to line up grid lines.
What am I doing wrong or what is wrong now with this TV.
Thank you for all replys....LeeWest

The tv have a problems known as a convergence problems,it dead.Any R,G,B colors lines are mis alignment. The tv convergence board the 2 STK convergence ICS and some or all it resistors are dead. These parts must be replaced to solved the picture convergence problems. The shop, will cost u $300-350 for parts and labors.
Hi, thank you for visit fixya. STK IC's need be replace, and possibles resistors burn too.
We call convergence problems.
For best results, take your tv to near tv service and request help for convergence parts, or you can find at encompassparts.com , just provide model number tv and they will help you.
Any question, let me know please.
Thank you for your quickly response.
Yes, is repairable your tv.
Need be replace STK 392-120 IC , two pieces. Plus possilbles resistors (burn), prices is variable , depend where are you located and depend labor on each shop. but, is around $285--$400.
Because after replace STK IC's, your tv need a lot work on service menu area ( is no customer menu setting, this is special section on eprom service menu.
I hope my information is good for you. Appreciate any opinion from you
You need to replace the vertical STK convergence chip but I would recommend that you replace the horizontal chip at the same time as this is likely to fail soon.
The following relates to the repair I have recently carried out to my Toshibal 40WH08B rear projection TV but shuold be very similar to your model. Replace the STK chips with the same type on your model:
On the convergence board PB 9487 (the one with the 2 large heat sinks that the r, b & g guns plug into) you will see two STK392-110 ics connected to the large heat sinks. Replace both of these and readjust convergence in service mode if necessary.
I obtained the replacement ics from Charles Hyde & Sons Ltd (see link below). I ordered the general ics not the Toshiba ones as these are identical as far as I could see and they cost £17.19 each instead of £36.68 each.
You will need to desolder the heat sinks as well as the ics as access to the ic mount screws are obstructed by the conv.dig board (metal cased). Buy a good quality desolder pump if you dont have one.
One last thing I should mention. The white paste between the ics and the heatsink is silicon thermal compound. Without this the heatsinks will not take heat from the ics effectivly and the ics will burn out! I recommend that you clean all of the old paste off the heatsinks and apply new to the whole of the metal plates on the back of the ics before you screw them to the heatsinks. You can get the thermal compound and the desolder pump from the same supplier I recommended for the ics.
Replacing only the ICs MAY solve the problem, however, many people have also had blown resistors requiring replacement. Also the convergence board should be checked for cracked solder. If you replace the ICs and the resistors are shot, the ICs may blow again almost immediately, meaning you may have to do the repair twice. You do not have to replace any transistors to fix this convergence failure.
are you experienced technician ? if you are not you are gone to mess up your tv you need to replace 2 IC's stk392-040 check power supply if still ok and get in to service mode to make the convergence aligment and is not that easy contac andrews electronics in CA they have squematic for
The actual Convergence amp ICs not located on the convergence board are probaly what killed the origional convergence module, and likewise has killed the new board. You will need to change the convergence ICs first then replace the convergence module.
I would recommend getting the service manual . I can post a link if you would like.
Sorry to bother you again but I did some research and the chip numbers are STK 392-120 but using STK 392-180 is recommended replacement. If the picture is bowed or skewed any at all then the chips are needed replace both and check if any 6.8 ohm resistors are burned or open. Resistors Can be measured out of circuit with a digital volt-ohm meter. Have you tried the consumer menu and located the convergence adjustments? If it only need touch up you should go there. And the numbers I gave you 062597 must be followed with pressing the status button on the original remote. this goes into the service menu and adjustment to convergence can be made there also if touch up is needed or after you replace the chips Hope this helps
