Sounds like a T'Con [Timing Control] board fault. In most Sony LCDs, this board will be built inside the display panel. If so, no other; except engineers at authorized service center for Sony can do anything.
I advice you to contact the authorized service center for Sony; to get it repaires. Gopakumar Gopalan Google

Alignment is not the issue with my printer... i keep getting a shadow behind my letters and images I print, but not on typed documents... only scanned ones or copied and pasted images into word... so...

The shadows are common from scanned images. You might want to hold the book you are trying to scan in a better angle so that the scanner can read it more clearly. Then your scans won't have that many shadows.

My Nikon D40 has developed a shadow in photos, not associated with lens. Please advise.

Is this shadow more like a spot that you can see clearly in areas of the picture like the sky? If so, this could be dust on the sensor. This is easy enough to remedy. Just Google the words "how to clean a DSLR sensor" and you will find sites that explain in detail with pictures the entire procedure. You will also find the materials needed and where to find them.

I have a 62 inch projection tv that is 5 years old. The picture is no longer clear and it has a bright blue shadow on words and some pictures. How do I fix this?

your problem is on the convergence board, some tv's have a saftey interlock that wipes the memory if you remove the back and it senses light.usually these boards are accesable from the front or side. you need the knoledge and skill to replace the parts on a component level. what exactly the problem is is hard to determine without the tools and experience to track it down. usually its a amplifier and or a resistor.

How do i get a crystal clear picture on this set?

Your tv is experiencing convergence problem. if you have tried the perfect focus adjustment from the menu and still not fixed, then the convergence ics need to be replaced. these ics converge the blue and red beams with the green to give a clear picture.

Hope this helps

TV PROBLEMS

If the images are different colors (red, green, blue) then the convergence has diverged. Some TV allow re-convergence through the menu screen, older sets my need to be physically adjusted (aimed) to clear this up. a strong knock to the TV may have cause this.

Green shadows on picture

I understand that the problem does not go away with the replacement light engine. Avoid Hitachi and just spend more bucks and get a Sony or Panasonic.

IM HAVING A SLIGHT PROBLEM

You need service. Sounds like the convergence is out of adjustment. As the picture is formed by a tri- gun arrangement (one for each colour), if any of them is not correctly aligned, you will see shadows on any sharp line like text, or blurring on a picture. The shadow or blurring will often be one colour i e. red, blue or green.

Red shadow on pictures and words

Sound like a convergence problem that you are describeing. There might be an adjustment that can be made. If it wont adjust then can be one of three boards. first try autoconverging in user menu.
