SAMSUNG SP-P4251 DISTORTED PICTURE AND THEN SCREEN GOES BLUE

Hi, my television has been working fine for about 2 years.  Lately the picture becomes distorted and then the screen becomes entirely blue.  Audio is available but not the picture. Please provide suggestions.  I was informed that labor alone for someone to come over costs $325.

Wow same here but mine is red I know its because of the plasma bulb is wearing out and for my fix is $1000 but I didn't do want to go on so I tried to change the color settings and tried RGB to all 0 and it became fine. Well at least you have a cool blue screen, mine is red.

My Samsung LED tv has distorted lines over 2/3s of the screen all the time

Hi Michael.
check this out.
What causes vertical lines on TV screen? The two main causes for vertical lines on a Sony LCD television are input-related issues and problems with the physical screen. If vertical lines are appearing on your television's picture, you may be able to correct the problem and eke out a few more years from your unit.

I have sound on my samsung sp-p4251 EDtv but no video

Most likely the 22Uf 450v Capacitor has went out. It's on the Main Power Board. It's a decent sized cap, but not a huge one. Take to a repair shop if u want, or take the back off, plug in your hair-dryer & heat up that cap. Should have picture within 10-20 seconds of it getting hot. If it solves your problem, just find / buy that cap & solder it on. (Or have someone who can) Total parts approx-$20 (Including Soldering gun/iron)

The capacitor is about $3.

I have some distored blue color across the screen

Projection sets have two very common problems.

The first common problem is convergence

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony, Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai,Pioneer, Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith and others.
You can get more information and a DIY convergenece repair kit with instructions from the link below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

*Screen Looks 3-D
*Colors wont align
*Screen may look distorted or warped
*No Audio/Video - TV Shuts down - May also make a constant chirping sound

Problem #2 - Another common problem is dull or washed out video.

Your set may have one or more of the following symptoms....

*Dull looking picture
*White looking picture
*Halos around objects
*Red/Orange looking picture

All I get is snow.

Sounds like a tuner problem on the main board, you can take the back off and make sure that the tuners are plugged in good, alot of problems with tuners are the grounds get cold solder
