You proably do need a piercing valve as those units usualy have no acces to the refrigerant. be carefull on how you do that the best way is to braze a fitting on and pull a vacuum then charge. most piercing valves will end up leaking on you down the road

Trying to recharge A/C system in 2003 Frontier CRew Cab. Do you have a diagram of system so I can locate high and low pressure lines.

To recharge A/C system in 2003 Frontier Crew Cab. Brother, don't concern yourself about the technical stuff of which is high or low pressure line. The refill/charge kit line will only fit on ONE of the 2 line fittings anyway. The line fittings I speak of are covered with a plastic cap like the one on your tire valve stem. Get your recharge kit from parts store, get mine from NAPA, with the line and a bottle of Freon. Find the charge fitting, usually on the passenger side under hood not far from firewall. Take the cap off and put it in your pocket. Open the kit, screw the piercing pin of the canister end out and put that end on the Freon canister. DON"T pierce the canister YET. Screw the other end on the charge fitting of your system and start the engine, turn on the AC on high, NOW pierce the canister top by screwing the knob/t-handle all the way in and then back it out half way. This will allow the Freon to escape the canister and the AC compressor will pull it into the system. Now, I've one trick for you. Before piercing the canister, get a small bucket of HOT water and have it there at the vehicle front. Soon as you pierce the canister and back the pin out half way, stick the canister into the hot water in the bucket. The heat will force ALL the Freon out of the canister till empty. Once empty, remove the kit line from the charge fitting on your vehicle, remove the canister from the kit line, trash the empty and hide the kit line where you can find it later, dump the water and put the bucket away, and go sit in the cool. One canister should take care of the recharge. If you put too much in from another full can, it may overcharge the system and still have no AC. That's just the nature of the beast. If it leaks down, get a leak detector kit from same place you got the recharge kit and find the leak. They also make a literal "Stop Leak" kit for AC systems too. Same place will have it. Brother, old school on this stuff. I figure things out quickly. There's no reason why this I told you won' work. It's what I do. Have fun Bro.

How to add freon

Freon??? Not legal anymore it is now call R-22 or R-24. The self kits that they make at Autozone, or any of the auto chains makes it very easy. Just look under your hood and there should be a sticker that says your AC, PSI or pressure. There is a valve on the kit that tells you the pressure. It also comes with great instructions just have the car running and turn the AC on. It really is that hard, Also green is the fill side. It should have a green cap on the hose.

yes you can but you will probably have to put service ports on it as most window a/c do not come with them .The easy way to do this is to get a couple of self tap saddle valves that all you have to do is back off piercing point out of the way while you clamp the valve around refridgerant lines and tighten screws down evenly. Follow directions and make sure you use the right size spacers for the line size you have. When you have the valve properly placed and secured then screw piercing point down thru the copper and close all the way. Attach gauges to servicevalves and open valves to check freon pressure. Add freon as needed. Thank you.

Need to add 'freon' to my samsung window unit.

Hello, in order to add freon to a window unit you must add a piercing valve to then low side of the system. The valve mounts to the suction line and allows you to connect your gauges and add freon. Here is a link to where you can purchase piering valves.

How hard is it to add freon to the AC system? My

It's very easy. You can purchase a kit at wal-mart or your local parts store. It will come with a gauge and a can of freon and oil. The system is setup to prevent you hooking up to the high port valve. A lot of people worry about this. You have 2 valves, one small and one little bigger. You want to start the engine and turn on your a/c. Hook the gauge up and see where the gauge needle goes. It's easy to read and will tell you if the system is low or overcharged. If the system is overcharged before you begin it needs to be checked out by a shop. If you need to add, screw the can onto the adapter, with the gauge still hooked up. Once you have the can on tight, screw the t-handle to pierce the can and hold can in up side down position. Make sure when yo pierce the can you screw the t-handle completely down and slowly turn it back open to let the freon in until the gauge reads full, or whatever the gauge may state. After it's full close the valve off at the t-handle and disconnect from your a/c unit.

What type of freon dose ptac use

These are hermetically sealed units and you are unable to recharge them without using a piercing valve. If you are able to do this they normally take r-22 freon, but you need to be EPA certified to purchase it.
