You will need to use L1 or L2 (one is probably on the front of the VCR, and the other on the back, they should be labeled).

YOu need to plug the digital receiver's output into L1, or L2, and set the VCR to record the one you're using. Then set it to the time you want, and then set the channel on the digital box tho the one you want.

One Channel, One time. (or recurring daily, if your VCR allows daily recording from L1,2)

How do i hook it up to my tv

The simplest way is to connect the screw on connector marked Output on the back of the VCR to the screw on connector marked antenna or cable input on the back of the TV. There will be either a switch or menu item on the VCR where you chose to have it output on channel 3 or 4. Chose which you prefer and then tune the TV to that channel.

Www philips com support

This unit doesn't have a tuner of any sort. Even on the few DVR/DVD recorders that have tuners, the external composite video inputs do not connect to the tuner. To record from the L1 or L2 inputs, you must be using a set-top box (cable, satellite, or digital-to-analog converter for OTA signals) or another video source (video camera or a vcr). Most TVs do not have video output capabilities. If you have one of those, follow the directions for recording from set-top boxes below.

Turn on and set the source to the channel that you wish to record for any set-top box. Then make sure that the set-top box is left on and at the correct channel after you finish setting the frequency, speed and length of time for the recording. Note: if the set-top box is turned off, your recorder will still record the blank video and audio.
What source do you have connected to the VCR?

To record from a video camera or a VCR, set that source to play back at the desired time point. This is best done without the timer. Just start recording and then the playback.

I hope this helps. Please add a comment with your video source for more support.

(My OTA tuner has a energy-saver option that turns off the unit when there is no activity for a while. Since I usually record when I'm either asleep or away from home, I had to disable the feature to get the correct recordings.)

I have a panasonic pv 9451- is there a way to reset the auto programming for the channels? can i reset the vcr programmed information entirelyu and start anew?i think i programmed out channel 3 which is...

Should be able to use the remote to access the VCR menu, and setup the auto programming. If not automatically, then you'll have to do each channel manually. Just check all your options in the menu.

Usually all vcr's have the option of channel 3 or 4.

I can't manually setup the Channels on my Panasonic PV 9451 VCR

In the Menu go to manual channel set-up not auto. When you're in manual set-up change channels until you get to to L-1 and L-2 (should be below Ch 2) and save both to memory. On some TV's the L-1 and L-2 are selected with a separate button labeled "input".

Channel selection

L1 and L2 are just line inputs. This unit does not have a tuner so there are no channels to select.
It requires you to be connected to a TV broadcast via a cable or satellite tuner box... and then would only record what ever channel you were viewing. The DVD is a player only.
It sounds like you should have purchased a DVD Recorder or a DVD/VCR Recorder. The players normally do not have a tuner. A Recorder should have an built-in digital tuner. Some also have the old NTSC tuner and may also have a QAM tuner.

Channel setup for VCR recording

WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO IS GO INTO SETUP AND DO A 'CHANNEL SET' EITHER AUTOMATIC (WHICH DID NOT WORK ON MINE) OR MANUAL AND ENTER EACH AND EVERY CHANNEL YOU WANT TO RECORD. THIS IS TIME CONSUMING BUT THAT IS THE ONLY WAY IT WILL WORK - IF YOURS WORKS WITH 'AUTOMATIC' YOU GOT IT MADE

Recording from cable

L1 and L2 are different inputs on the VCR.If you have red, white and yellow input on the front of the VCR then when you put the VCR on L1 it should pick up a signal from the front. To get more channels on your vcr you want to do an autoprogram make sure the cable from the wall is plugged into the input in the back and go to the menu on the VCR and look for channel search or auto program and start the search.usually you can find this setting under something like SETUP, Programming, settings on the main menu of the VCR.You may have to search in the menu of the vcr for a little bit until you find it.Youll know when you got it when the channels automatically start scanning from 1-98.GOOD LUCK and rate me if this fixesya or is helpful.

No sound when recording channel 3

Is this when you are recording via CH 3 from a separate source? If so, try CH 4 or alternately, L1, L2 inputs.
