After turn on my tv it works perfct for about ten minutes and then the menu options will come on the screen for a few seconds then go off for a few seconds then menu options pop back up again and it does this for aprox. 30 to 45 minutes and then the tv works normally. But if you turn it off and then back on again the whole process starts over again. The tv is less than one year old and is a SEIKI model number LE-55GD2.

You need a software upgrade. It is free. Go to Philips.com and enter your model. You will find the software upgrade info there. You need a USB memory stick. Easy to follow instructions are at the website. Another issue with these is the cable from the IR rec is dressed too close to some large coils on the X board. The cables need to be rerouted.

I had a similar problem, mine was a bad earth connection on the main (tv input) board. it earths through the screw mountings so check they are screwed in nice and tight, probably best to remove and then refit it.

If you are electronically inclined, replace the three 1000uf 16v electrolytic capacitors in the power supply board located above the power switch. They are likely bulging out at the top and failed. They are the three in a row at the top - center of the board, located between the two black heat sinks. Make sure you get caps rated for 105c degrees! I recommend replacing them with 1000uf 25v caps. 35v caps will work but might be a tight fit as they are larger diameter.
Should cost you about $8 for the parts shipped. You can get them from partsexpress or digikey or any good local electronics store. Your local radio shack may have them but they won'y be 105c and thus may not last long.
Not handy, ask around, there is usually some electronic tweaker guy around that will install them for a few bucks.
This has solved the turns on / then off problem every time in the 3 I've done.

The most commom causes are One. There ia a stuck button on the tv itself. The Menu button. The membrane switch or the TACT switch is bad and needs to be replaced. The Main bd can also be bad.
