Dell 2200MP projector

Starts up then shuts down after a few minutes.  About 150 hours on unit - bulb OK. Seems to be a known problem but Dell is hush.  Probably a power supply issue - I would like to fix myself if possible since repair quotes are stratospheric. Any clues

Teacher has complained about this problem and we have tried repairing the projector to no avail including sending it back ro Dell.

Thought I could clean the fan area in case that was the problem, but can't find the fan area or how to get to it.

    Suggestions??

Unit starts up, and appears to be normal, replace lamp light comes on. I replaced the lamp with two different lamps. Same problem. Dell sends me in circles, no one seems to repair these projectors.

I have a remote Mimio in my classroom and in order for it to work you must have a projector (with the correct colors displayed). The color starts flickering, and then the lamp light comes on. It eventually goes off, but the cycle repeats itself.

I have blown it out with air and checked all cables to make sure they are tightened.

The unit powers up and then powers off after 45 seconds.

there is a problem with the power to the front fan from the main board. there are 3 wires going to the fans: one power, one return, and one signal. if the main board reads no signal from the fan's speed, it'll shut down. check the power going to the fans and the signal. you may need to replace the main board.

Hi PFCS

This is unfortuantely a well known sign of a faulty Mainboard.

And this will have to be repaired by an authorised service provider.

Unit shuts itself down

Sounds like you have an overheating problem. Maybe a bad fan? Also you may have a bad connection to the "bulb".
