This can be a number of faults, your battery being flat and mains power pack has failed, your power on switch has built up an accumulation of carbon deposits usually found on frequent button pressing similar to joypads. Check your Ac supply and battery, it could be as a previous discussed screen fault

First step: Clean up the air vents (inlet and outlet) and the fan. You can use canned air to clean it up.
Second step: Use Windows media (DVD) to reinstall the operating system (it will fix the boot up problem).
If the problem persist: use a good working hard drive and install the operating system from scratch.

SOURCE: HP Pavilion ZD8000 vertical lines issue

Hi,
In answer to your question. It may be a screen problem. as the screen has a Matrix of vertical and horizontal line configuration.
I,d suggest trying the laptop/computer on an external monitor or screen. if it works fine on an external. then it could be assumed that the TFT Panel or invertor has a fault.
if the picture/display still has vertical lines on an external monitor, then the fault may lie, with the Mainboard.

Process of elimination, before spending any Money :)

SOURCE: i can not turn on wireless to my hp pavilion

You have a number of options:

1. Make sure the wireless switch is in the "on" position. This means that the switch is slid to the right. If it is, and the light is blue, then the wireless is working just fine, you just need to connect to a wireless router. However, if the light remains orange...

2. If you have Vista, go into the start menu and right click on "Computer" (XP, right click on "My Computer" on the desktop or where ever you stashed it) and click on "Manage" in the drop down menu. After you do this, you will see a menu on the left, double click on Device Manager (6th item down). This will open another list of items. You need to go to "Network Adapters". This drop list will tell you whether or not the wireless card is being detected. Should say something like "Broadcam 802.11 b/g WLAN". If you see that, the computer is detecting the wireless card and your wireless should be working (however, if it is detecting it and the wireless light is still orange, check the switch again, if it is switched on, then you are about to have a motherboard problem). If the wireless card is not being detected...

3. You either have a HDD, wireless card, or motherboard problem (more often than not it is the motherboard, and you would be hard pressed to find one cheap). If you want to simply try to replace the cheaper parts first and hope that works, start with the wireless card, then go into the HDD, after that, obviously, the motherboard. But I will tell you from experience, that it is more often than not, a defective motherboard.

Free recovery disks for hp pavillion zd8000 with windows 7

As far as I know, the original zd8000 operating system is Windows XP. If you have Windows 7 installed, then you need to get Windows 7 disc and its product key. If you need the Windows XP reinstallation media, then you can use HP Windows XP reinstallation disc only (for example: HP Windows XP Professional with SP2 disc).

Hp dv9208nr with vist sp2, system keeps rebooting, screen stays blank, cant even get to bios

hi,

When the files in your system are corrupted, your HP laptop would reboot automatically. When the files which are required to run the Operating System like fonts under Windows FONTS directory are been smashed then your system's Operating System will force your HP Laptops to restart continuously. Thus in such a situation you would have to change the name FONTS in the Windows directory.

Battery or power cord problems

Problem sounds like the power pin ... where the AC cord connects to thecomputer. That particular component is very fragile. The part torepair it runs between $ 5-$15 but the labor to repair it will costanywhere from $ 100-$250. It can be repaired by you if you are verycareful taking the system apart. Just pay attention to every detail ofyour dis-assembly. I also recommend you get one of these to stop the problem from happening a 2nd time.

Loggs out of windows xp

Normally these type of issue occurs when there is any problem with the Operating System files. However, you can check the display in Safe mode. Just restart the notebook and keep on tap F8 and select safe mode.

If the notebook is fine in Safe mode, it is the issue with drivers.

If the issue persists, you can try the Windows Repair using Recovery discs that came with the notebook.
