Question about Cuisinart DLC-10S Pro Classic Food Processor

1 Answer

It just stopped working

I have only used my food processor about 5 times since I purchased it about a year ago.  I went to use it the other day and it just would not work.  I put something in to chop and tried to turn it on... nothing.  Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Jean

My sunbeam food processor is less than 24 months old and I would not have used it a dozen times. I have set it up as per the instructions in the manual and it still will not work. I have not dropped or misued this appliance in anyway. I am not impressed. There are no trouble shooting solutions at the back of the manual as there are with many of the other appliances I own.

    Please help, any suggestions?

    Thanks

I have used the product twice. I went to use it and it won't work at all. It has been in my cabinet and nothing has happened to the processor.

The soluction suggested was a relief because I know it still works... But it appears that they white tab inside the clear part (on lid) that should push down the white lttle pole to let the motor work isn't pushing it down... does that make snese? How do I fix this??

The directions in the solution fixed my problem but I noticed that even with the lid on, the tab in the led wasn't pushing down on the bar that runs down the side of the bowl and pushes the button on the base. I had to push down on the lid to activate the button in the base. Thank you to the person who posted the soultion, you saved me a ton of money!

The food you put in the top (ex. brick of cheese) might be higher than the level measure on the side of the lid. Start w/ a smaller portion.

Remove the work bowl from the base of the food processor, and separate the bowl, lid, and pusher sleeve.
Plug the base into the wall outlet, turn the food processor ON, and then use a pen to press in the dark grey or black button on top of the base of the food processor - if you hear some kind of noise, then your motor is still good.
Put the work bowl on first, with the handle facing the front of the food processor.
Put the lid on, with the hollow feed tube facing the back of the processor.
Put the pusher sleeve in the lid, with the sliding lock switch facing the front of the processor.
Your processor should now turn on.

If your food processor still does not turn on, call Cuisinart and see if you are eligible for an in-warranty repair - it has a 3-year warranty.

Good luck!

The Blender attachment will not turn, just grinds and smokes.

The motor shaft that spins the teeth that are on the base of the blender may be frozen up for some reason. If you purchased the duet within the last 3 years and have a receipt, call Cuisinart to get it repaired in warranty - even if you don't have a receipt, your serial number may still save you. If you purchased it more than 3 years ago, let me know.

Motor won't turn on

You can test the motor by plugging the food processor in, pressing the on switch and using a pen to press the dark grey or black button on top of the base of the food processor. As long as it spins, the motor is definitely good. Next, unplug the food processor. For the food processor to work, you need to have the work bowl, lid, and pusher sleeve all inserted - if one part of the work bowl is not attached, then the food processor will not spin the blade. Once all three pieces have been inserted, plug it in and turn it on. If the blade is still not spinning, then there is a problem with the element that runs from the back of the pusher sleeve down through the work bowl that triggers the motor button. In that event, you can go to Cuisinart's website and order a new bowl, lid, and/or pusher sleeve - if you see any obvious damage to one part, you can order just that one part. If it is not apparent which part is damaged, order the whole work bowl. Make sure you enter your exact model# at Cuisinart's website, because a DLC-7 is not the same as a DLC-7E or 7P, for instance. The work bowl parts are expensive, so I would just write down the part numbers from Cuisinart's website and find them cheaper elsewhere. There is also a video on the website that shows you how to use the food processors - the first part of the video describes work bowl assembly. Once you get this food processor working, it is going to last forever. Have fun!

You can find the manual on Hamilton Beach's web site: http://www.hamiltonbeach.com/use-and-care/use-and-care.php

Choose your product from the drop-down menus. Its not a great copy, but its legible.
