I have only used my food processor about 5 times since I purchased it about a year ago. I went to use it the other day and it just would not work. I put something in to chop and tried to turn it on... nothing. Any suggestions?

Re: It just stopped working
Remove the work bowl from the base of the food processor, and separate the bowl, lid, and pusher sleeve. Plug the base into the wall outlet, turn the food processor ON, and then use a pen to press in the dark grey or black button on top of the base of the food processor - if you hear some kind of noise, then your motor is still good. Put the work bowl on first, with the handle facing the front of the food processor. Put the lid on, with the hollow feed tube facing the back of the processor. Put the pusher sleeve in the lid, with the sliding lock switch facing the front of the processor. Your processor should now turn on.
If your food processor still does not turn on, call Cuisinart and see if you are eligible for an in-warranty repair - it has a 3-year warranty.

Most often when that model processor stops working it is associated with the mechanisms in the lid and bowl that activate the safety switch that prevents you turning it on when the bowl & lid is not on correctly. The mechanisms are not repairable, the fix is to replace the bowl or the lid or both. A proper KitchenAid service agent should have both in stock, take your complete machine in so that the faulty part can be identified.
It sounds as if you may need a control board for your food processor, it could be that there is a loose or burned connection inside your unit and could be fixed by disassembling it. another option is to call the Cuisinart phone line located on the bottom of the processor or on the user manual. Unfortunately most control boards are too costly to repair or replace, and your machine is not under warranty. most times they are deemed a ``throw away``. hope this helps.

The motor shaft that spins the teeth that are on the base of the blender may be frozen up for some reason. If you purchased the duet within the last 3 years and have a receipt, call Cuisinart to get it repaired in warranty - even if you don't have a receipt, your serial number may still save you. If you purchased it more than 3 years ago, let me know.
