Cutter on speedylock

The serger got jammed and I fixed everything except the cutter. It doesn't seem to cut and I tried replacing the blade but that didn't do it. It seems like it is in the wrong place however if I move it, it hits stuff or jams the machine. Please help

Since the machine jammed, there is a chance that the timing has been thrown off on your serger. You may need to have it recalibrated. That happened to my machine. I hit a thick spot when serging denim, and bam!, it refused to work after that. I don't know how to adjust the timing, and honestly, I wouldn't pay more than $80 to have it repaired. More than that is just a rip-off. I wish you good luck!

SOURCE: keeps cutting the thread from inside the machine

Make sure all of your threads are in between the tension dials. Sounds that the machine isn't catching because of the tension. Good Luck

SOURCE: Blades need replacing.

If there is a joann fabrics store nearby, they have them. I think you can also order them online:

I have a Babylock 5260 serger and have changed the blades before but this time when I changed them I can't get them to align correctly. the top blade comes down and hits the bottom blade. I cant figure out...

First make sure that both blades have no burrs on the them from hitting pins. Then set the lower blade so that the cutting surface is flush with the surface of the needle plate. Then adjust the upper blade so that when it comes down to it's lowest position on the downward stroke of the cutter arm, that the cutting edge comes down past the lower blade at least 1MM. That will ensure a full cut of the blades.

My simplicity serger SW432 wont cut

There are 2 blades, a fixed cutter and a moving cutter. The moving cutter should move approx 1/8" at it's lowest point past the fixed cutter. There should also be some pressure between the cutters

How do I dis engage the cutter

What does your manual say?
If the 1634 is anything like the 1600 I don't think you can disengage it. I have the book for the 1600 and there is nothing mentioned about disengaging -- only changing the blades. Some models are like that. You might join the White serger group and ask the members there..

Someone may have an answer or a way around it.

Otherwise, all I can suggest is to call or go to a Joann's or a Husqvarna Viking sewing machine dealer and ask them. Alternatively, a sew and vac repair shop may be able to assist.

White serger

You did not say it jammed from thread or just stopped working.

If it is thread, then you will need to carefully use embroidery scissors with a sharp point or a razor blade to cut at the lump of threads and carefully pull them out with your tweezers till you clear the mess. Use your vacuum to get all bits out of there, being careful and not hitting the loopers. You can knock them out of alignment with thread jams and such.

If it just stopped and you cannot turn the wheel, then it needs a trip to the repair shop, either your dealer or to a sew and vac repair where they know how to service sergers.
