My keyboard suddenly stopped working. I can't type any letters of numbers. NO keys work, but the mouse and touchpad still work.
You can use a USB external keyboard for temporary; test and fix your operating system using Norton Utility (download and run it):

After finish (it needs some restart), please post the result (and the error message if any).

Connect an external keyboard to your laptop. If the external keyboard works properly that means the keyboard of your laptop is defective and you have to replace it. If you get the same problem with the external keyboard reinstall your operating system (it could be a virus).
The keyboard takes a lot of abuse and as durable as it is, they will eventually wear out. It is a very inexpensive part to replace and does not require a lot of skill. The fact that the touch pad is acting up could indicate that they are interconnected. I would replace both. The Touch pad is a more involved part to replace and I would suggest you get some help or pay to have it replaced.
You can order them off of sites like eBay, then watch a YouTube video on how to do it.
