Did you mean "Del key" does not work anymore? Basically, if one or more key does not work anymore, it means the keyboard is dying and you need to replace the whole keyboard (it is affordable and more efficient). You can visit http://www.ebay.com and search the replacement keyboard using keyword "your exact laptop's model" + "keyboard". Later you can download the laptop's service manual, so you can do it by yourself if you would.

My top row of buttons on my dell keyboard is not working. the calculator button and other buttons? weird any ideas?

It says that the drivers for your keyboard is not installed...
you need to Install the drivers that came along with the Keyboard...
If it doesnt comes with a cd search in dell site and download the drivers...

This happens because, the default drivers for keyboard will be present in the database of windows, so you wont be facing any issues in using the keys...
But for using the special keys, u need to have drivers...

Dell inspiron 6400 keyboard is not working

Do you still have the dell diagnostics cd and the drivers and utilities disk, you can press f12 and boot to the cd and then run the diagnostics, if not its either your cable is not connected anymore and you need to reseat the cable, you can follow these instructions http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/ins6400/en/sm/keyboard.htm#wp1111863 or http://tinyurl.com/fq6m5 if after reseatting the keyboard and still it wont work then you need to purchase a keyboard for your system.

Mouse/keyboard problems

Hi,

Probably, the keyboard cable isn't quite connected, or crooked. Likewise, the mouse cable. It's hard to get them into the connector perfectly straight and tighten them at the same time. Shouldn't be a problem. If it still doesn't work, there's a chance that by disconnecting the keyboard/mouse after such a long time, the cable might have become damaged. Hope not tho.

Good luck
