What are the legal characters to ask a question on fixya?

1 Answer

A

Anonymous

Legal characters are characters which are accepted when posting on the Fixya website. If you are receiving an error about illegal characters it means you are using characters found on the keyboard (such as symbols) that Fixya does not accept. This can sometimes be caused when copy/pasting from word processing software which can insert incorrect commas, apostrophes, or even hidden characters.

Make sure to type your question directly into the box and make sure to try and avoid strange symbols or characters.

Hope that helps, but if you continue to have problems you can always contact the Fixya Support Team to receive additional help.

Replying to a response to my first/orginal query - illegal characters

Hello, Alex -

Those who answer questions on Fixya.com are volunteers. Plus, if your question wasn't accepted because the Fixya.com question algorithm did not accept some text / characters in your question, that question did not get posted and no one volunteering to answer on Fixya even knows what you wrote.

I suggest you contact Fixya.com Customer Support:

What is a legal character?

Where are you asking what you were asking?. On FixYa?.
The FixYa parser refuses to let anyone enter any character (letter, punctuation mark, ..) that is not part of the English alphabet.
I just had a problem with a circonflexe (^) accent. In the opinion of their programmers, any such symbol is illegal (meaning NOT LEGAL)

Legal characters

Basically the letters, number, and other characters that are on the keyboard. Not the ALT+ combinations. If you're pasting from a word processor, use the "Paste as plain text" option.

Unfortunately with new technology comes difficulties that require adjustments. For the most part, spelling out data is preferable to using sysmbols.

Hey C KROL

Usually it means letters and numbers. Some signup processes don't allow characters like: # % ? _ @.

Microsoft Word 2007 not working

You can't. You have to enter the Product key that came with MS Office 2007. If you have a legal copy it will be on the plastic case.

That is the legal way. You can also get a key from Microsoft if you don't have one.

Office 2007 asks for this key to setup each program.
