On my Sharp AL-1631, suddenly only half of a page copies and the edge is smudged. The other half has many horizontal gray lines. I shook the cartridge, and I cleaned the transfer charger. Can you email me at [email protected] to give me recommendations for fixing? Thank you.

If you 'replaced' or refitted the original cartridge, then I would suggest that the toner cartridge has failed. If this is the case, please try a new one. If the original has not done a fair (check manufacturers specification) number of prints, you may be able to ask for a replacement. If this was a new cartridge, and printer uses separate drums and toner cartridges. Then it could be a faulty drum. Above replacement path could be tried.
Lines that are thin are usually caused by white out or ink or just dust on the exposure thin **** glass, clean it with alcohol or windex. Other lines could be caused by dirty charge units, there should be a rod you can slide out and in when you open the front door to clean that. If the hot fuser rollers are damaged that also can cause dark lines
Sometimes the originals hesitate using the document feeder, which can cause the problem you are describing. Do you get the same rsults if you lay the original on the glass?
Hi, you can stop a copy half way to see if it image is on the on the drum if not check and make sure toner unit is turning. if not main charge. thanks dale.
If it only happens when using the document feeder (if fitted), then the small glass on the right hand side needs a clean ( normally tippex), if it occurs when copying from the glass and doc feed then your charge corna needs cleaning
the problem in your machine is on the drum unit there is a arching on the mc unit.located in the upper portion of the drum unit.if you have an old drum unit try to install it again just for testing.and check if ther is a dumping toner again.
Your unit definetly needs a new drum. The usual yield for this consumable is upt ot 15,000 pages, so at the stated rate, the unit yielded more than average. AL-1000 series share the same toner and drum, so finding remanufactured (or recycled) drum units should be no problem. In Puerto Rico, they are sold for about $79.00.
Several things can cause this problem;
The drum cartridge is not being cleaned properly or there is a problem with the toner cartridge .
Take out the drum cartridge and inspect it for any signs of the defective image.
If that doesnot solve the problem, then Call a tech.
There is no corona mentioned in the user manual.
