Rca tv/dvd wont turn on

Red power light is on but when you hit power on the remote, the red light goes off but the tv wont come on

If the front panel lock is on, you will need a working original remote (or a universal remote properly programmed for RCA) to turn the set on. The IR receiver is next to the buttons on the fromt but the RCA IR receivers are very reliable, and I have yet to see a bad one in a modern RCA TV. Once you turn the set on by remote, you can enter the menu and turn the FPA off.

could be power supply problem or high voltage problem. check caps in main power supply first.look for caps that have tops puffed up ususlly three or four.....

Try unplugging it for about 30-60 seconds, then plug it back in and before you turn it on, make sure there is a good video source going to the TV either from Satellite/Cable or a DVD player or something.

If this doesn't work, try unplugging it a bit longer and then plug it back in and try again. If it still does not work, you may have to take it in and get it serviced.

Usually when devices power themselves off like that, there's something wrong...

There are two places to look for the problems, the backlight inverter board and the power supply. Look at the power supply first since it is easier to get to, look for burnt parts, bad capacitors, etc.

  1. Turn on the TV or device you want to use with the universal remote.

Other than that there is an easy way to program this remote. 1. Turn on the device by hand. 2. Hold down the device name key.(hold the TV button to program a TV) 3. While holding down this key also hold down the power key until the red light turns off and comes back on. Then release both buttons. 4. From here hit the power button repeatedly until the device turns off. 5. Hit the stop key at the bottom. Now the remote is programmed for that device.

Can not control the volume on an rca
Ok to reprogram the remote and this only works if you just use the remote for the tv and the receiver. Like i was saying to reprogram the remote hold the tv button till all the top lights flash, then push the red power button, then hit the up arrow button slowly til the tv cuts off, once it cuts off hit the pound (#) button. The top lights should blink three times, that should reprogram the remote, If it is a tv/vcr combo or a tv/dvd combo then there isnt a code for it. Also there is a series of years that the rca tv's wont take a full code and u can just control the power and the tv channel

My RCA model D52W20 will not fully power on when we try to turn it on by using the power button on the tv or by using a remote. There is a click and the green light that shows power lights but the tv does...
unfortunatly the rca d52w20 is a flawed tv, they a high rate of problems with the power supply and convergence amps, both parts are no longer available, i have scrapped those sets that were barley a year and a half old. sorry and good luck

I have lost the instructions for my jumbo touch screen remote
I was here originally with a problem identical to one posted and found that the best solution posted was only partially working. My husband and I were able to get the tv on but that was the extent of it. Once on the remote was not working. Out of frustration we figured out the that if you practice the exact steps after the tv is turned on, 
1 hold the set button untill the red light comes on 
2 press what you want to set (tv,vcr,dvd,ect.)
3 press power botton aim at unit and wait until it turns OFF then quickly press ent.  This did it for us and we are now happily watching tv again without having to toss our beloved giant remote into the garbage. Hope this helps!!!!

Need instruction to program the remote RCA 450
took me awhile but I figured it out

ok

Put your TV/DVD/VCR on
hold in what you want to program TV/DVD/VCR BUTTON
(you dont need codes or anything)
then while holding in what you want to program (TV, DVD, VCR) hold in ON/OFF
both at the same time

when the light comes on and stays on
keep hitting ON/OFF BUTTON
do it slow, when the TV turns off hit the STOP button at the bottom
then hit the button you just programed
then hit the ON/OFF button, the TV/DVD/VCR will turn on

if it doesnt work, repeat. make sure you hit the stop button when the TV/DVD/VCR shuts off, if you hit it an extra time while the TV/DVD/VCR is off it wont work.

took me about 30 mins to figure it out.

RCA RCR311W remote
1) turn on unit

2) press and hold componet button on remote (TV, VCR, etc)
until On/Off lights up

3) press and hold On/Off while holding component button. Light will go out. Continue hoding both buttons until light comes back on.

4) release both buttons. On/Off should stay on.

5) Press On/Off repeatedly until unit turns off.

6) Press the Stop key at bottom.

7) light goes off. Remote is programmed!
