I should clean the video head with Servisol Video 40. One of your old tapes perhaps deposited oxide all over it!

Chances are your video drivers are causing your problem. You need to go to the video board manufacturer's website and download the newest version of your video drivers. If you're using a laptop, chances are you'll need to go to the laptop vendor's website to get the drivers specific to the laptop.

Does not sound good, the onboard video chip is more than likely fried. all you can do now is try plugging in a external monitor and see if that port still works. You may try replacing the LCD inverter board, but I don't think it will help.

Is your DVD player hooked up to a surround sound receiver, or directly to your television?

Hi bnkbaker, Sorry to hear your having TV problems. We need to check your backlight inverter, While your tv is on and you can hear audio(sound) take a flashlight or a lamp with a bare bulb and shine it on the screen, look very closely at the screen and see if you can see a video image. Make sure all the video cable connections are plugged firmly into the back of the PS3
The sound you are hearing indicates that you are on the right track. To get the video to work you will need to select the correct channel on your TV set. Connect the video cables (yellow) to the video INPUT of the AV port of your TV and then change to the AV channel on your TV set to view the picture.
