Probably best to buy a pair of Wharfedale 505 or 507 speakers just for the drive units - they are exactly the same and can be picked up for £40 a pair

It runs so hot why?

Possibly lack of ventilation or excessive volume through difficult speaker loads.

I've just been given a Wharfedale S-990 Amplifier, Tuner CD etc tower - but without any speakers. Output is 2x50W - but the impedence isn't specified. I'm just looking for advice on what...

Anything in the neighborhood of 8-ohms will usually fly safely with standard audio amplifiers. At only 50w x 2 you want efficient speakers. Watch the volume as this amp may clip if driven too hard. THAT will kill any speaker.

This owner had Valdus 200's and was happy. But just about any quality speaker in the 100w range should work out.

Can't get the back off of my Wharfedale Diamond's. Model 7.1

Sometimes the back does not come off, but the speaker comes out from the front...

Speaker connection from Denon AVR 2105 to Wharfedale suround

The spkrs sound like they are bi-amp spkrs, meaning you have multiple terminals on the backs of each spkr, the jumpers on the spkrs should be connected as such. Now you just connect the spkrs according to the Denon spkr conection diagram. Do not use the surround back unless you have 6 or 7 pair of spkrs
