Use the V CAST Music Manager. Download it for free at
www.verizonwireless.com/music/musicmanager. Music Manager works only with Windows XP and Windows Vista with Windows
Media Player 10 or later. Mac OS is not supported.
WELCOME TO THE MAGICALLY FUSTRATING WORLD OF VISTA ..
Well here is what you can do that may work
1.) go to the manufactures web page for your device and download the new drivers for Vista (ONLY IF YOU DONT ALREADY HAVE IT).
2.) Download the music managers software for windows vista.. eighter from the devices manufactures home page or you can try this http://www.helium-music-manager.com/
3.) You can transfer music directly to your device by copying and pasting it.. You device will show up in Compuer as a drive..
Let me know what happens or if i misunderstood your question
First check your audio device in the device manager, and then go through all the sound settings in the control panel. Here is how: http://www.pcauthorities.com/windows-xp/how-to-troubleshoot-sound-problems-in-windows-xp
These are the steps that helped me resolve a similar issue I had:
1) Find a computer with Windows XP (ServicePack2)
2) Intall iRiver Music Manager 3.16 from http://iriverinc.com/download/iRiver_Manager_v316sp.exe
3) Download the Firmware update for your player from http://iriverinc.com/download/ifp800/IFP-8XXT.HEX to your Desktop
4) Start the Music Manager and connect your player to the computer. (The XP should recognize your player; and the Music Manager should show the "connected" status)
5) In the Music Manager, click on Tools => Upgrade Firmware, then select the file from your Desktop. NOTE: The upgrade process takes 4 -5 minutes.
After the firmware update, Windows Vista and other PC's should recognize your player.
You have deleted your sound card drivers when you reinstalled windows. You'll need to visit the manufacturers website, go to the support & downloads section, find your model and download the drivers. Try going to Start - Control Panel - System - Hardware - Device Manager - then right click any yellow question marks and choose Update Drivers from the list. When asked, let windows search online for suitable drivers and click next. If Windows fails then you must get the drivers from the manufacturer's website. If you can't find it then post all the details of your sound card (from device manager) here and someone will help you. Best of luck!
You would have to go on the site and download the software for Windows 2000 ( I saw they have a version for Philips Manager for other versions of Windows)
The software you need is called the iRiver Music Manager. This includes the drivers for your player. The link to download it is http://iriverinc.com/support/ultra/iFP-manager-pc.aspx . Just click the blue text that says "iriver Manager 3.16". Good luck!
