Xerox workcentre xd105f

I'm getting a L6 code, and having a hard time finding anything on the web that might help me fix the problem. the only thing I've found is it has something to do with the polygon motor, whatever that is. can you help?

I have a xerox XD 105f that is about 4 1/2 years old. For about the last two months the L 6 sign flashes intermittently. The instruction book says to turn the power off and then back on which I do. Usually that works, but it is occurring more frequently and I am afraid that it willl break down soon.

I want to know what is wrong with it and whether it is worth the cost of paying a tech to come out and fix.

What would be the broken part and how much to replace?

    thx

Guest.
The L6 indicates the machine is not seeing the motor in the laser, that rotates the mirrors.
There are 3 possibilities, I will list them in order of probability.
1 The Laser unit itself.
2. The cable connection on the Main Board.
3. The Main Board itself.
The laser depending on the lens, Curved or straight is $323 and $393.
the main board will cost in the $250-$400 range depending on the vendor.
That is without labor.

L6:The Main PWB sensed a Polygon motor lock signal error.
5-L6 only: Check the connector CN23 on the Main PWB and the wires and connectors on the Laser Module. If connector and wires are not damaged, replace laser module

L6 on Xerox usually means an external device (like a coin unit) is disconnected, well it wouldn't be that! another L6 is the xerox plug in card supplied with toner/ drum units which maintain a count of copies done on that unit Not familiar with particular model as model numbers change in different parts of the world (I'm in Australia) your model may not have that feature...did it just happen, or did you change something?

Need Drivers for Xerox XD105F for Vista

I see you are looking for a chat for this as I try to help you for free (what a nice guy am I!) ... I went to the windows 7 hardware compatibility list for your printer ... it says on page 21 there is no information available. I understand you are using Vista not 7. I went to Vista compatibility list ... no information available.

This is generally a nice way of saying your (who ever) device is no longer supported by the operating system and we (Microsoft/the manufacturer) are not writing a driver for it - it is time to upgrade.

So, there is your free answer ... I hope you got a better answer for your $20.00 chat ...

I have xerox workcentre xd105f, can't make copies,paper jam

P will flash on the screen when the paper tray is empty, paper misfeeds or the paper tray door isn't closed all the way. Make sure both (if you have 2 paper trays) are loaded, that the paper isn't folder and wrinkled, and ensure that the tray doors are closed firmly. Then hit start on the workcentre to continue any unfinished jobs.
